Slightly_Cracked,

When I was a kid, I had a white turkey hen that would follow me around like a dog. As soon as I stopped walking, she'd sit on my feet. She liked to be picked up and carried around, and scratched on the head. Somebody stole her along with my male peacock...

I can't have a turkey in the city.

Where did you get your Australorps? I think that I could probably order them through Atwood's, but would rather buy them from somebody that raises them.

TJ's Na-Na :

TJ and Kendra are sorting through their birds and deciding
which ones they want to enter at Pryor. I'm lovin' it that
this one is only 30 minutes from home. They have a show
here in Tahlequah a week from Saturday that is just a
Cherokee County 4-H Show.

How many of you will be at the Pryor show? Enough of us that
we'll try the name tag bit again?

Have a good one !

Where is the show at here in Tahlequah, I would soooooo love to take my daughter and wife. I live just North of town in Gideon (towards peggs) not far from grandview school. What kinda poultry do you have?

mefordz-jim, maybe by March I will be able to be "allowed" to buy chicken/chicks again by the hubby.

Generaly he is real indulgent of all of my chicken ventures, but we have lost so many chicks due to them squishing each other and the weather going from 70 degrees to 0 degrees in 1 day, that he has told me I couldn't buy anything till it warms up and stays warm-spring. And I hate losing babies too!

Colby, Welcome to BYC!! We got our Australorps from an elderly gentleman that was moving in with his son in Oregan, so he had to get rid of his birds. I felt so bad for him. My Austrlorps free range with everything else so I won't be able to get you any pure bred birds. I am sorry to hear some dirty rotten person stole your turkey and peacock. It always makes it worse when they a special pets. Very cute story though.

If the Lake thing does not work out would anyone be interested in doing the Chickenstock in Blanchard, I spoke with Jerry (runs the Blanchard auction) and he wants a little more information on it but would not have to worry about the ODA as the auction owners already have a relationship with them and anything that sis not get swapped could be put in the auction that evening. Auctions are every2 and 4th Saturday of the month. Jerry wanted more information on the vendors at the last Chickenstock I was not able to go so if someone could help me out?

You might check out some auctions, there are several not too far from you. Noble, Lexington, Blanchard, Cement, Jones, and Maud to just name a few.

I think that would be a good place. Then to have the auction that night would be cool. I guess we need to have someone to step up and agree to organize this if we are gonna do it.
Luvsmybabz, is that you? I am not that close to Blanchard but I will try and help as much as I can.
Any volunteers in the area that might want to agree to help put something together?
Lets keep brainstorming. I like the Lake idea too I just don't know how feasible it would be to pull it off if we are bringing chickens.

Keep the ideas coming.

Mawchckadie,
If you are out there, we are not trying to take over Chickenstock, (I hope you are planning another one) we are just trying to plan a meet and swap here in the middle of our great state. If you are planning an event let us know so we can coordiate dates and such.
Any ideas and help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Monty

Blanchard would be cool for me...I am way to far to be of much help but am still willing to haul a BBQ pit. The Lake would be cool because we could camp out and all and let kids run and play but I am game for what will work! The auction would be neat afterwards...do quail sell well?

RonnieAtkeson - This is wild ! When I saw your name, I asked
Bill if he knew you, didn't see you in the phone book, etc.
Gideon ? Bill's family has been right here at the south end
of Gideon Hill since 1909 ! We're right here on the highway
across from the cemetery and fire department. We have all
the "greenhouses"...LOL...that have chickens in them...LOL
Kendra went all the way through Grandview and TJ is in
the 3rd grade now.

We used to raise quail, pheasants, turkeys, several types of
chickens, nubian goats (you probably saw all the babies that
kept escaping and running up and down the highway on
occasion), etc.

We have scaled way down and only have a few laying birds,
a few horses, and 4-H stuff now. But, Bill and the kids are
threatening to fire up his GQF incubators and brooders.....

The show is out at the new fairgrounds, beside the rodeo
arena out south of Tahlequah the 24th. It starts at 9:00.
Depending on the weather, don't know what kind of
turnout they'll have, but each show is a little more
experience for the kids. If you have kids that are
interested in getting into showing their birds, or
other critters, we'd be happy to help anyway we could.

If you can come out, give a holler at us. Bill's 6'4" and I'm
5'5" and we'll be the ones chasing TJ.....LOL

Have a good one !

To answer Buckguy20's question about where I'm from. I am located about half way between Cleveland and Sand Springs. OK , right off of 64 and 412 Hwy. I am currently raising Oriental Gamefowl and still have my Old English Game Bantams. I guess I'll always have a few of those around. I've raised Old English for 30 + years and the Orientals for just a couple now. If anyone ever finds themselves just west of Tulsa you are more than welcome to come out and visit and have a look at the fowl. Richard
