I can't say that I remember them stimpy, but I love all things old. I am a pack rat and have generations of old pictures that my grandpa and ma let me copy. We also traced the family history way back. I think I was born in the wrong time. LOL. One very special thing my Grandpa did for me was spend some of his time in his last years writing down stories of his life. Some he tells from his childhood and what things were like, some from his service years and some from things he remember of his own grandparents. He has only been gone for a couple of years and I can't tell you what they mean to me and the number of times I have taken them out to read.

I just went to pick the girls up at the school..they are back from their band trip to Idabel....

I think I'm gonna have to name one of my hens Roxanne, cause their coop is glowing red from the heat light I hung in there. "Roxanne, you don't have to put out the red light...Roxanne...you don't have to sell your body to the night!" Anyone remember that Police song?

Sooner, I think we must be a lot alike...I too am a collector of all things old..I have a collection of aprons that I've bought at antique stores or gotten from my grandmother..they hang from a "clothesline" on my kitchen wall. When my grandmother passed I found a bag of letters that she had saved from around 1944-1945 when my grandfather was in the war and had written back to her....the return address on them would say "somewhere in Africa" or "somewhere in italy". He kept them saying he didn't want anyone to have them, but I've asked him about them recently and he said he would find them for me to have. He is 89 years old now.

Stimpy, I never bought flour in printed sacks, but my grandmothers did, and I've worn dresses and slept under quilts made with them.

I grew up right there with my maternal grandparents, so still treasure all their things I still have. Can't bear to part with any of it...yet...maybe someday.

But I doubt it.

Sonya,

Funny how old things take on new meanings. When my mother passed a few years ago, all of us kids gathered to clear all the stuff out of her house and see if there was anything we wanted.

In her closet, tied up in a ribbon, was every letter I had written her from Vietnam. I sat on her bed and read them and I could remember where I was and what I was doing when I'd written each of them. I didn't know she'd even kept them.

Henny - everything will be fine for a day or so...just leave everything as is for the eveining. Tomorrow afternoon the others should hatch...then you could move them to a brooder or something...don't want to move her too much though!

Stimp - although i don't remember buying them my grandmother had them and I slept under those quilts...never wore a dress...we did have some of those aprons...I think my mom still has them.

I 'member it Sonya! As a matter of fact dated a gal named Roxanne and well...well look at the time...Teach quickly changes subject

Stimp - I still carry a pocket knife! Kids will come up to me and say I forgot I had this...we were working all weekend and I just through back in my pocket! I hold it for them until school is over...heck I hand mine out in class

Dot,

I know what you mean. I have absolutely no use whatsoever with a stack of printed flour sacks, but I keep them nonetheless. They were my grandmother's and they meant something to her, ergo they mean something to me. I'm just not sure what.

I remember when I was a kid I thought all table clothes said "General Mills" around the edges.

Chicks need NOTHING to eat for the 1st 24-36 hours. If you need to you can mash up some boiled or scrambled eggs to get them by, you know how an egg stinks if under heat imagine how it smells if under a heat lamp that the chicks DO NOT eat. Gag me with a dead smurf nasty.

Teach... You are officially... my hero...

I can remember them because my grandma would make aprons out of them. They are worth something these days. Don't throw them away if you gotta git rid of them sell them on ebay.
