Since I was gone all day, I just got caught up on my email and posts here and all I can say is it sure was quiet on this thread today...
Day 10 of incubation and I candled again...of my 6 Welsummer eggs, I can see 3 definite moving squirming embryos....sooooo cool! The other 3 I think are clear, but I'll leave them in there a while longer just to be sure, since I'm such a novice. Of my 6 duck eggs, I have no clue...all of them have something going on....4 of them have a lot of "stuff" in them including veins and blobs, but I don't see movement and it's just different looking to me...the 2 eggs that were refrigerated look mostly clear, but have a few veins...maybe are quitters. Since duck eggs incubate a week longer, I"m leaving them all in just to be sure that they aren't just all slow starters...this is such a learning experience....but those moving squirmy dark spots are just way beyond cool to me. I've got to back off and stop handling those eggs and just leave them be...I'm so impatient.
If anyone is getting rid of Welsummers let me know and I may be interested..
I'm leaning more and more towards coming to POOPS...I think it'll be a ton of fun and my girls love the idea of going camping with mom. I love the idea of putting a face to the names of all of you and getting to see a bunch of different birds...I hope the weather is nice that weekend. I'll have to think of something to make and bring of course....
I think the storms are getting closer to our area...hubby says that we are under a severe thunderstorm warning and I can hear the thunder in the distance. Just when I thought the coop was going to start drying out a little....sigh. Chicken mud stinks so much!!
