I'm up at my mom and dad's house in Stroud this weekend and the whole family went to the Prague exotic animal auction today. I had almost forgotten about it, but remembered on our way up last night. To prevent myself from buying anything, I didn't even get a buyer number...how good is that?! I had a good time just seeing all the animals and watching my brother and mom bidding on stuff. Apparently they sold a zebra yesterday. Today they had a baby baboon they were trying to sell for at least $1200 but no one wanted to bid that much.

Mom left with a trio of white cochins for $9.50 a piece and 20 buff cochin chicks. One of the chicks has spraddle leg, so I'm about to go out and tape them up and hope for the best. My brother got a couple of lop ear rabbits and a couple of 2 week old piglets.

They had a bunch of hedgehogs and a 12 foot snake and get this-someone paid over $100 for a pair of ARMADILLOS....they run wild all over the place and someone wants to pay a bunch of money for them? I didn't understand that.

That was the first auction I've ever been to....it was pretty cool and I think I'd like to go to more!

Sorry Henny

nnbreeder...dang good info! I have taken all advice about avoiding sour crop I hear! That is not something I want to play with! Cracked corn isn't even mentioned around my place!

Al - We're family now!!! Yup...those are tuxedos...which means I need to do some more selective breeding...YEAH!!! I get to play geneticist!!! That is kinda like a physicist only you make up numbers about living things instead of moving things.

Got my garden in today. Note to self...buy a tiller..renting sucks.

Went coon hunting last night...no coons...the dogs found a skunk and avoided us until it started raining...apparently they knew the consequences of baying at skunks!

We have graduation tomorrow...school isn't out until next Friday but heck we call it good before school over!

I think I'm going to have to sell these seven chicks plus the chicks I ordered

Sonya - welcome to the new addicts club! Did you get the snake??? That would be so hot!

By the way...water snake on that snake yesterday or earlier or whenever it was. Need a little better look at the scales but am fairly sure that was correct Monty! Then again...I could be totally wrong! That's why I am so loveable...that and I am hot!

Anyone wanna come fix my dryer? It goes beep beep beep...alot. Not running right. Wife is ticked cuz she can't fix it...I don't have a clue what to do. I would ask if she would like a niffty stand for it to stand on but don't want to get hit. I would offer to give it a shot of antibiotic but again...don't want to get hit. Do dryers have oil that needs to be changed? I don't get electrical stuff...you gotta use that volt-meter thingy to test stuff and you gotta plug stuff in right or things go bad and they aren't cheap!

Does anyone need help this summer? I'm outta school the 21st, I still need a place for my chicks.... and I need a job. So Again does anybody need any help this summer?

I'm sorry the hen didn't make it. sometimes they are just too sick by the time they show symptoms to save them.

I wonder if the late freeze killing the wheat was a factor? The heads on some of these fields around here were about half full when the freeze hit. Those in your area should have been a week or two further along then ours here.

ok now there is dead grain in the heads drying off and the rains come over and over again which sets up a perfect situation for mold. If the hen was jumping up to get the grain out of the heads that is where she could have gotten into the mold at.

I think he may have been referring to the "other way around" as being a Silkie hen over a naked neck rooster. Which is what you said.
We know what you meant but what you said was funnier.
