Okay, I know about where you are... I know McAlester at least! We are about an hour away, I'd say... maybe a little bit more.
My son finished up his college at Durant. He has to go to the casino down there for meetings and training sessions.
After I retired, I owned a commercial real estate brokerage in LA, we moved back to ... well, here, because this is where I'm from. I didn't do anything for 3 years but my wife didn't last 3 months before she was climbing the walls & went to find a job. Then one day she gets it in her head that I need to find something to do also. All I wanted to do was play poker. So, OK I says, and off I went to Las Vegas for 3 weeks for poker dealer training. I'm Creek, so I went to our casino and auditioned & got hired. Poker & Blackjack dealers don't interview, they audition. So, it's just a "retired" job. The hardest thing about being in your early 40's and retired, is being in your early 40's and retired.....
Maria, my wife, is retired from the California National Guard (full time duty) and is now the court clerk in Claremore. We met when we were both active duty Army. When I retured from Iraq (version 1) I had been to war 3 times and didn't have a scratch on me, figured I was pushing my luck so I got out after 11 years active service.
