I cant believe I am already getting the Turkey bug
roll.png

I think it does not help that Jason was saying he can totally get into the Turkey raising.lol

Can I possibly add bits of random nothingness in order for me to get out from "chilling with my peeps?"

I think its starting to be to much of a crowd.. LOL

Morning all! It's too dang cold! I sure feel sorry for DH having to lug warm water out to the hen house this morning. He doesn't get around too well, and always manages to slop some on him.

P&B - What is the withdrawal period for Wazine? I had a couple of hens that I thought had Cocci, so I'm currently medicating the water with Corid - (lost one anyway, dangit!). DH says it looks like one is pooping worms, but I haven't seen the poo myself. Could this have caused the bloody poo instead of the cocci?

It is unusual for an adult bird to get Cocci. I would imagine the blood is from worms. The Wazine is the safest wormer that you can get and is often used on humans.

Use 1 oz. per gallon of water and use it as the only water for a full day, re-fill the waterers if needed but use it all day long. I usually withhold the water starting early evening the day before so when they get up the next morning they get a nice long drink.Repeat the treatment in 14 days to break the life cycle of the worms and then you may have to go to a monthly schedule through winter to get it cleared up.

When can you start eating the eggs after using the Wazine?

BTW - it was a young pullet that died. She was maybe six months old, but never laid any eggs, but some of my pullets are OEG mutts that were just running wild before I got them. They didn't get anything at all to eat unless they rustled it up for themselves.

Thank you so much on the kind compliments, I will let Char know. I am so sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. I was outside struggling to figure out how to get the babies in the cab so they would not be cold in the back of the truck. We did get them finally arranged. Mary Beth was so kind to jump in and help me. She had all the supplies to make it work.

So I learned some new tricks of the trade hopefully I remember for the next event.

Charlotte was just asking me when she could come over and see you, she talks about you quite a bit. I myself am happy to have met such a great group of people, who even when being at their goofiest are still great role models for our children of tomorrow. (That goes for Al, Monty, and Teach too)

Charlotte and I are both really excited for the next get together. She is really wanting another show to hurry up and get here so she can start taking place in them. I need to take some pics of our new babies. Char is in total love of the new babies and has to go and say goodnight to them each night before she gets ready for bed. Yesterday, we got home from her School Xmas program, before going to Ballet, she begged to go out and see her new babies before running to Tulsa. We had an extra few minutes so of course I said yes and we played with them till we had to absolutely jump in the car to make it in time, LOL. She has started naming the chickens, although they keep changing. I guess she is trying to make sure she has the correct names for each, LOL. Anyways, I think the name that I know she keeps saying for the White Crested Polish Hen is Sweetie Pie and the Silkies she has had several, but has not decided for sure yet. I don't think she has figured out names for the Pigeons yet, but I am sure she will. She loved and adored the chickens before the show, but I think she is way addicted now since the show. I notice her taking any moment she can to be out there with them, no matters how cold it is.

I wish we could make it to the auction this weekend, but unfortunately Charlotte has her Nutcracker performances all weekend long. Oh well, we will have to make the next one. I think we may even try to make the one the day after Xmas. That sounds like fun, and what better Xmas gifts than some more chickens, right?

Who knows, maybe my husband will also get some Chickens for Xmas. Then he can regift them to Char and I, LOL. I am cracking myself up!

I can't rate my favorite breeds. I don't have a favorite - if it lays eggs and clucks - it's okay by me! That's probably why I don't mind that most of mine are just mutts!

I do have some pure BO's and RIR's, and one lonely BR pullet. I'd like some more like her - she's a hoot!

1. Silkie
2. D'Uccle
3. Cochins
4. White Crested Hat Polish
5. Welsummers
6. Barnevelders

(My first three are hard to order, I really like all three. I will have to see how Char would order them when she gets home. Although, I think my first would always have to be Silkie)

Others we had before massacre:

5. EE's (I love their eggs)
6. Barred Rocks (they are just so sweet)
7. RIR (these are also sweet)
8. Buff Orpingtons
9. Sizzles (maybe we will have some more here shortly, although I don't think I had my frizzle roo with my silkies right before the massacre, so I am not sure I will have this mix in my eggs that will be hatching soon)

I love goofiness! My family are all very goofy. He reminds me of how my dad was when growing up. He was really goofy, but strict. Taught us manners and how to behave and treat others with respect, while still having fun. His boys have some of the best manners I have seen in a long while. You don't see too many young boys that have such great manners and are eager to help with whatever needs to be done. His boys wouldn't even let me help them carry my cages I bought from them, like great young gentlemen.

If only everybody taught their children the same kind of manners and politeness as those two our world would be a much better place. And the Teachers today would have a much better time in the classroom with the children, at least here in America. I am not saying they were the only children with manners at the event, I just really noticed how polite and what great manners they had, so I do believe Teach must be doing something right. Maybe I am wrong, maybe it is their mom, LOL.

Here in America, most people have gotten away from good morals, politeness, and how/what we can do to help out our fellow man (neighbor, friend, family, or even stranger). In some other countries, you will still find that the children are to obey all elders and will do whatever they need to to help out another person. In the classroom, the children respect their teachers and will not be tolerated otherwise. It just boils down to us parents, many of us are not teaching our children of today the manners that was once instilled in us. Instead, it is what can we do to make our own lives better, but not what can we do to make others around us better. In whole, this lack of manners is a destruction of our society here in America that is hurting us in the long run.

O.K. I will get off of my soap box now! LOL
