Here's the link for the thread for the last POOPS https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=222781

I'll cross my fingers and hope that someone takes over the big chairman position so I can volunteer for somethin'...

That reminds me. I'd better find a template for a chicken to use as an applique template and get started. I'm a slow sewer, just like I'm a slow knitter.

Plus, I'm gonna have to fit it in between classes, school, kiddo and her soccer, and work.

If we use the same campground, and everyone can agree that POOPS won't happen until two or three weeks after school lets out, I'll chair the event. So there. I'm officially insane. I think I need some air.

RBurkey has this to say about black broilers:
Black Broilers are very efficient producers of broiler meat, especially for those who prefer the darker skin variety of broilers. Although considered a slower developing meat bird than Cornish Rocks, they can reach approximately 6 pounds in as little as 8 weeks. These darker plumage meat birds are more active and will generally have fewer leg and fluid retention concerns than the faster developing Cornish Rock. They are brown egg layers, but not considered a good choice as an efficient producer of brown eggs.

In contrast to the Red Broiler: Red Broiler Chicken (Whelp)
Baby: various shades of Red. This is a meat type chick favored for it's darker skin. It will get into the 3-4 pound range in about 8 weeks. The Red Broiler tends to be a bit bigger than the Black Broiler, but smaller than the White Cornish Rock Broiler.

You can get 25 SR Black Broiler chicks from Double R for $47.50.

You want to hold it in the summer?

I was thinking a couple weeks after school lets out. I'm a teacher, and the last part of the school year becomes a gauntlet for those of us who administer an EOI. If it's going to take 80+ hours of planning, as was posted earlier, then I can't chair unless it's at least the second week of June.
