Okies in the BYC The Original

Buster glad your place made it alright. That other house reminds me of what it was like when the bad one hit us. There wasn't a tree anywhere in site that wasn't broken. It was so earie being outside because you could hear the tree's creaking & splitting then off in the distance you would hear one fall. We had a hugh tree (for shade) outside my kitchen window, the trunk came up and branched off three, long story short they all fell but the one over my kitchen window. Had that one fell we would of had major damage.

Always a bright side.

Morning All Yall Okies.

Well, no power, no internet or satelite TV. We had to move to Ft SIll to get back on-line with BYC and let everyone know that we are still alive.

There are about 100 million power poles down around our area. Our power lines are laying in the pasture with 2 1/2 inches of ice on them. We have to haul water to the animals. BUT, we went out yesterday to find we had a new doeling goat born about a hour before we got there. She sure is gorgeous, a paint.

Ducks and chickens don't know there is any ice out, they are still laying up a storm. We had to haul our incubators into town and re-connect to power so Queen Peaches doesn't have a cow that her eggs got cold.

Hope everyone else is as fortunate.

faerielady - so where do you rank in height

Well the kids left for basketball so I am grading papers...well...I should be! Tried to do my grades and the stupid thing wouldn't let me on for like ever. So I did it the old fashioned way and still gotta enter them!

Well, I just sent my sister's kids back with her... she came and got them about 10 minutes ago. Of course, I may have given them each a cinnamon roll about 10 minutes before she got here... but I refuse to state with certainty that I did!

My oldest nephew apparently tried to incubate eggs from a carton of eggs that my sister bought a couple months back... they figured out what he'd done after the first one exploded...

So he asked me very sincerely that if I buy an incubator, can he help me incubate a few eggs. I said sure, of course... doesn't bother me. However he is very upset that my sister (his mom) refuses to own any chickens, so he can't have any as pets. I told him that after I get the sheds up and modified in the back yard, he can come over whenever he wants and help me take care of them. Gotta start the chicken love early... My daughter got my niece in love with the fluffy silkies growing out in the living room pens.

Yep, she's my child!

The 10 year old is about 2 inches shorter than I am. However, he's terrified of Auntie Kae's wrath, as he well should be

Did you give him that line about dynamite comes in small packages?

In our family, everyone gets excited when they are taller than Ma (my mom). She is 5' and no change (probably less now...she is shrinking). She can be a mean little thing though. Only person alive that could get me to bring salad on a camping trip...and I mean salad not sandwhich makings!

Way to go! An aunt's job is to fill them with sugar and send them away! makes them be nice at your place cuz you are cool! I am trying to get my nephews into birds. I have no nieces

Wow Buster is that your house in town? What a mess that will be to clean up. I am sure glad we only got snow. I remember one bad ice storm before we left Okla. but it wasn't as bad as they have been the last three years. There won't be an undamaged tree left in the state before long! We commented last year that the eastern part looked like one of those war zones you see on tv. My heart goes out to Al and buster and all the others affected by this.

Way to go Faeri, load them up with sugar and send them home to an exhausted mom!LOLAin't life fun!he hehe

Hey guys popping on briefly to use the printer for home school lessons... MUWHAAA weather doesnt stop me from giving my kids school...

Anyhow just a gentle reminder that as things start defrosting be on the look out for icesicles ... I was gathering water from a neighbors out door faucet when a string of them cold daggers nearly got me from their roof...

When I walked back to my house more branches were falling from the trees...

so please continue to use caution around your homes that are thawing out...

Congrats on the new home!!! So how many more chickens are you going to be needing? Let me know we will help enable ya the best we can!!!!

Good evening everyone! We had a lot of thawing today which is great the chickens are lovin it!!! I talked to Al and they are still fairing well, he was on a mission for coffee and electric so he could get the cell phones charged. He said all other was well and that the only bad thing going right now was losing a freezer full of food.

Hope everyone else is having a good day and continues to have a great night!
