It really depends on who is seeling them and what line they are from. Alot of people like the Black Copper Marans. But in order to get good money out of them you really have to know the line and make sure they are laying a nice dark egg (I mean really dark!). Are the French Black Copper Marans or Black Copper Marams? And what is the name of the guy? If it is who I am thinking of, and it might not be, the guy I know that breeds them has had themimported in from out of the country so they are from a great line and new, not inbred to death.

the ked tht has them is from AZ and lives gutherie now........he has a ad CL with abunch of stuff on like the micky thompsons tires watches etc.......you wuld know this ad if you seen it.......but i dont know he dont have anything i want and he says these birds go for 50 to 75 a piece ?

Dont know him.... Its really hard to get a bird to go for that price. If people know the name and the line and they are big in showing then they will pay a higher price. They might go for that price but i doubt he sells that many at that price. I would tell him no! Its really hard to sell a chicken for that much without having a name that people are use to hearing as a big breeder.

Hoo Doo The marans is a new fad breed(actually not new just revisited) .The money is in raising "good stock birds". As for laying, the way I understand it you don't want them to be great everyday layers, the more often and quicker they lay the less darkness in color of eggs you get. There is proably money to be made still in breeding stock,if its really good bloodlines, but if you are wanting to trade for some great layers its proably not a good trade.I certainly wouldn't do a trade that counts each bird you get as 50-74 dollars. As a trade price I would have to value them as no more than a third or barely half that much.

Good to see yo back Al. You were sorely missed! Hate to hear you working so hard. You take it easy, you may be two 5"s but you an't no spring chicken no more!LOl

I used to lose my voice about 4 times a year due to allergies. Besides the gargling with warm salt water, and drinking hot tea and honey, I found that Robitussen CF or just plain Guaifenesin capsules were a lot of help to get the drainage under control and my vocal cords unswollen. Anytime I would go to the doctor, they would give me a prescription that was some hopped up version of Guaifenesin, so now I just keep the capsules on hand and when I start the coughing and drainage, I take those and keep from losing my voice. Musinex has Guaifenesin in it also.

The best thing I have found so far is Excedrin Sinus. The only problem is I can only find it in single use packs at a truck stop. I have some Mucinex but it doesn't seem to be helping. I have been taking Tylenol Severe Allergy and it helps some. Thank you for the advice.

For a cough and sore throat, I mix equal parts of honey, water, lemon juice and either bourbon or brandy. I add slivered almonds, then heat it all in the microwave. Drink it slowly as warm as you can and chew the almonds. Almonds have a tiny bit of arsenic in them, which is medicinal.
