Does anyone know how I can tell if a poult is male or female and at what age. The two I have are starting to develop a little tuft and the top of their beak. I'm thinking pre-snood. Am I right? If so, I guess I ended up with 2 toms and no hens.

Shouldnt yall be in bed or something or is the night crew what keep the thread hopping..I would like to get my hands on a few muscovy ducks... them things are weirdly ugly cute...

No snakes in our Hen House for my girls to worry, I think I know why they didnt lay in the hen house nesting boxes because they were to busy laying in the cool grass in the shades outside the run and hen house( we have been letting them roam the property the last couple of days.

I have one cage of babies left & I am glad I don't have any more. Thos poor things it is so hot, they spend their day under a shade tree.

Today I am lookinf forward to hanging out with a friend, we are going to swim & eat pizza!

Hubby is in shock that I took him with me to get "some ducks" and we came home with 30 of the little darlings. He hasn't made the connection between the cute darlings we brought home and the red faced ducks that were walking around their property.

The adults are so ugly they are cute.

smfamf Hello all. We have had a rough week, but we got a lot of work done on the house. We got all the plumbing done, turned the water on and found a leak. After digging around under the house, we found out the the main line from the meter was cracked. We decided to break down and hire a plumber to fix it. Man I wish I had my plumbing license. Those guys gouged us . . . well it seemed like it. I'm sure the price was fair.

In MOST areas of Oklahoma if you are working on your own property the homeowner has a right to perform their own repairs "without a license". The only problem is when connecting to a meter. Most areas require a licensed professional to make those connections whether it be electrical, sewer, gas or water. Other than that you should be able to do repairs and even additional work on your property.

Its true you can do home repairs on your own property with out a liscensed, but I think and agree when it comes to the BIG STUFF hire someone other wise you end up like us and have to spend 2300 on a new sewer because the previous folks who owned the home placed an un approved system or you have to strip the roof and spend another 3000 on roofing materials because there are 5 layers of the stuff. Hey I am just saying..... I am not bitter no not I.. H A HA HA

Hoping the showers make it here today.Chicks all look good this morning. May have another broody starting,have a bunch more oegb eggs to put under her and maybe a ee egg or two for good measure!lol. Been letting a few birds free range a little at a time. Garden is so big they should be okay.

Pigeons are doing good. Lots of new babys. They reproduce so quickly. Wish I had room for some of those muscovys you all are getting. They are fun ducks,tame really quickly and learn who feeds them. They can become a pest. The babys are the fastest fly catchers you ever saw!I made an offer on some indian runner babys but haven't heard from the owner yet.

Just a quick post that Peaches is a HAPPY CAMPER today.

AND, to add to that, she found a NN He-Man roo

for her "Golden

Girls". Les is bringing her a roo to the tool sale tonight. He sent a picture and she knew this
was her new stud-muffin for the girlies. He is a NN blue splash.

If I get back and there are little NNs all over the place, I'll know that you was the enabler.

We have been doing all the work on the house ourselves. We chose to contract out for the roofing and propane lines. We decided that they were big items and didn't wanna mess them up. It was actually the night before the plumber was supposed to be there, to do the propane lines, that we found the leaky main line. We decided to just let them take care of it. Good thing we did because they have to remove the meter and casing to remove the main line. Come to find out, the main line was the original line that had been placed decades ago and was rusted throughout. It needed changed if we wanted clean water anyways. All of the old propane lines were replace with new copper tubing. They installed new shutoff valves throughout the house for the water heater and wall heaters.

Does nayone have any answers for my duck or turkey questions. I am really curious and need an answer to shut my mind up.
