I am considering going. Depends on whether I can get caught up on some sleep between now and Saturday.
If you are going to Blanchard and Shavon brings those ducks for Jeannie to OKC on Thursday, you could be part of the ground transportation relay to get the ducks to Jeannie.

You could probably also get Michael to bring that NN roo to Blanchard for you.

I think i am just numb- one of those was the first finch i had... but in the walk down to my FIL's, i realized its doing whats normal...but DANG! with all that land to get frogs and such he picked the finches! grrrrr

even thought of giving him to the guineas....

on another note- is it ok for chickens to eat dog kibble for a few days?? waiting on a check and we're flat out of food for them...sigh

This morning I went out to feed the ducks and poults in the new flight pen and saw a very small bright yellow duck in the pen with the rest of the recently hatched ducks. I couldn't figure out where it came from until I found a dead one that looked just like it, next to the nest where a runner duck has been sitting on eggs. I don't know why she pecked one duckling to death or if she pecked it after it died, but the survivor managed to find his way over to the duck pen and go into that the pen - somehow

It never ceases to amaze me how recently hatched ducks and guineas and poults can hear a familiar sound and figure out how to join that family it matches, sometimes leaving the hen that hatched them still sitting on eggs in the case of chicks and guineas. Anyway, since it was being stepped on by the bigger kids, I put it in a carrier by itself and will brood it with the blue runners arriving at the end of the week. That flight pen is totally covered by 2 inch chicken wire so I don't know whether it managed to crawl through the chicken wire (I have seen new guinea keets do that before) or found a gap in the frame. Smart duck.

You are definatly a better person than I am I could never see myself Rehoming a snake that broke the bird code.

I have rehomed ones that were caught in the act of being innocent, grass snakes ect. But theres Just to many snakes in these parts anyhow. I just rehomed a 13 year old western diamond back rattle snake He hang out in my living room on the wall and his meats in my freezer for cowboy chili

My chickens love dog kibble and dry cat food, much better than the dog and cats like it. They will be fine. Chickens are great garbage disposals too, so now may be a good time to clean out all those freezer burned vegetables, the old canned good, make up the corn bread mix that has weevils - and feed them to the chickens. You can also cook any old eggs you have and feed them back to the chickens. They can pretty much eat anything except uncooked potatoes (some potatoes have toxin in the skin if the skin has a green tinge to it), coffee grounds and citrus peels. I take my potato peels and microwave them, sprinkle them with red pepper flakes and feed them to the chickens. They red pepper acts like a natural wormer (acording to what I was told) and in the winter time, the red pepper warms them internally to help them lay better. Be creative.

Congrats peaches on Doc's phone working, that must be some big relief. I am proud of you for being strong we all know it aint easy being an Army wifey, I know mine was a trooper. Tell doc we all miss him and give him a group cell hug from all of us back here in the world.

I am off to take the wife on a dinner date and some dancing after, before I start a long grueling schedule again till the end of the month and next.

Be safe Ya'll

Robin - Yikes! Our dog killed a few snakes in the basement after we first moved in, but the house had been vacant for 2 years, and we're nearly at the center of a quarter section of prairie. We found lots of wildlife in and around the house for the first few months.

Suzi - The birds I need to sell are mostly crosses: Aussie X Ameraucanas, BR X Ameraucanas, etc. I'd have to sit in the pen and count before I could say what's out there. I do have some pure breeds in there too. I've mostly just fed, watered, and played with them knowing that I wasn't going to be keeping many of them. If I don't sell them, I'll be processing them next month, which would be fine, but I hadn't really thought about how much work that will be until just now.

Does anybody out there have Coral Blue guineas? I found someone in Pryor who has them, but I never got around to making the drive. Maribeth, I love, love, love the guineas I got from you two Poops ago. They walk with me when I mow, of all things, probably to be sure the mower doesn't get out of line. They are very bossy. They have been finding mice in the barn lately. Did I tell you I love, love, love those guineas? I think I want a bunch more just so I don't have to get barn cats.
