Morning all
I was just setting here thinking life can be good, I had a great country breakfast of home grown ham,
And eggs that was collected last night,so nice and fresh my yellow dog lying at my feet when, the phone
Rings and it's my daughter saying she will be able to make It down this weekend for my birthday.
1-1-11 doesn't come around often

My favorite sale has been announced by EggCartons.com - free shipping until January 2. This is when I like to order leg bands, nest box liners, incubator thermometer wafers, and things that are awkward to ship - like a one piece chicken leg catcher, replacement hexagon shaped plastic pans for the 5 gallon plastic waterers, and heavy items like a quart of VetRX. They actually have a lot of things other than egg cartons, but you sometimes have to search for things - like the hexagon red plastic pans that I searched for on other sites for years, since they tend to get cracked after years in the sun. They happened to have a picture of them on the first page one time when I visited the site, or I wouldn't have thought to look for them there.

Disclaimer: I receive no benefit from applauding this sponsor of BYC, other than the opportunity to make sure everyone is aware of an opportunity to save $$$$$

From the email I received from Eggcartons.com:

There is no coupon code to enter!!
All you have to do is select UPS Ground Shipping on any in stock items shipped from our warehouse. This offer will expire on Midnight, January 2, 2011! so act today & save!

I feed plain ol'laying pellets (20%) from the feed mill here, they get scratch every so often in the cold months & table scraps.

Quote:
We feed United Supplier 15% layer pellets and a small amount of scratch daily as a treat. During the winter months we feed more scratch daily to help with warmth.

I feed my layers common 18% layer feed, they get some custom mixed scratch every now and then and whatever treats from the kitchen but I don't overdo that.
My breeders get a specialy mixed feed around 28-30% with other vitamin fertility ingrediants added for better hatching egg viability.
I also switch my teen growers feed out early and they do much better that way.

Sooner - what brand of laying pellets comes in 20% protein? I used to get that level in Red River brand, but my feed store stopped stocking that brand.

We have been feeding Nutrena brand layer pellets, but are making a trip to Fisher's Mill this week for 2 tons of their own mixture of cracked grains. They have an egg layer facility there that uses the same feed - I figure 30,000+ laying hens are a good recommendation for the feed.
