Okies in the BYC The Original

I mix together
1 gallon of A&M brand 15% egg pellets
1 gallon of regular A&M brand scratch
1 Spaghetti Sauce can(26.5oz) of the Ranch Hound dog food from Atwood's (15% I think)
1 Tuna can of Oyster Shell (I only mix this in about every 3 or 4 days)

I do this till my 5 gallon can is full them pour it back and forth into another can to mix

My chickens are paired or trioed up and get a Campbell soup can full of the mix per bird per day and I keep a 1 gallon can of the 15% egg pellets in each pen and a 5 gallon feeder full in my layer pen. And as you all know I have lights on my birds and my egg production is excellent right now. I have fed this mix for years, have tried different mixes but this one is simple for me and works great, not too expensive and get great results. Lynn

Yes it does give a nice sheen to their feathers, I used to show OEGB for years and raise Games for sport for several years, have used dog food for a long time, have found on hard feathered chickens like the Games that if you get your protein too high it softens the feathers and makes the edges curl up some, so have stuck with the 15% and it seems to work good. the chickens love it too.


my guess would be....... Red Cell!

I used to use Red Cell in boiled rice and oats for my Sporting Games in the winter as a warm treat and they loved it and I think it kept them nice and fit.

Pretty certain that they are NOT organic since their feed is reasonably priced and my experience with "organic" is that it is at least 3 times as expensive as anything not considered organic.

Don't know about GMO corn - I don't want my bees to come into contact with GMO corn, but don't think about it in relationship to my chickens. Their phone number is 918-367-6382
