@WVduckchick I wonder if I could keep my current roo and his son, but my current roo would be for the other hens and I would have a coop just for the lavenders?

Here's my girls. Most are OEGBs except for the two porcelain d'uccles and the black tailed white Japanese bantam.

I have a question for you guys more experienced with OEGBs. What color would you call her? I got all of my bantams from TSC. I made a thread when she was younger and asked what color she is and I got back Self blue does this seem right?

The second i’d call lavender aka self-Blue. Pretty chooks!

Not the best pictures in the world, but here’s a few more pics of my lavender OEGB pullet, Violet. (yes, she’s in the house, but she’s going back to the coop on a few minutes)

I’m thinking I’ll hatch a few batches of lavs and sell them as pet-quality, while keeping the “best” ones for myself.

I'd like to hear more about the personality and temperament of this breed. The cock birds have a reputation for being aggressive, hens sweet.

In my brief experience, they are very sweet! My couch roo is a Silver Duckwing rescued back in July and he loves us all. Has a conniption fit if we put him up for the night without t.v.-watching/cuddle time: pacing back and forth, staring at us, clucking, banging his face against the side of the tub! I just have the one, but I'd be surprised to hear if the roos velociraptor out like, say, a Rhode Island could.

Not any nice glamor shots--in the best one, he's still growing stuff in from his first molt. =( Even now, his tail feathers are still encased halfway up in that whitish sheath. Sooner or later, 9 Volt might actually look nice! LOL This first is the day after we rescued him (July 13, he was my birthday present to myself ).

This next one was his Thanksgiving dinner, complete with the Lions losing in the background.

As close to a glamor shot as I could get, about to lose half those tail feathers in his molt.

...And mad at me on election day. He barked the whole time, goofy little guy!

...And here's a red pyle photo I stole off the interwebz the other day. The pyles are gorgeous!
