Old English Game Bantams questions

It could be. I know just a little of their background. A friend of mine got them a few years back. They started as a young trio from a local breeder. He lost the original roo the first winter he had them. I don't know where he got his replacement roo from. He raised quite a few chicks from them. He got rid of some hens and swapped roos once more. Before he got bored with them and gave them to me last fall. I guess I will wait and see what size it grows to be. Thanks for answering.

I love playing chicken detective haha

It's possible your birds may have some AGB influence in their background, but my guess is it's probably just a big chick. Happens sometimes. That's why the standard sets weight ranges for birds to fall under to be shown. You probably just have an "Andre The Giant" chick in your group. That's one of those Russian roulette aspects of genetics that makes the hobby of breeding and hatching so fun

I have raised chickens for years. Just starting with bantams though. The wife has a few Silkies and we got the OEGBs for our daughter. We don't know much about the background on either flock. Both breeds have thrown us a curve this year. The big chick from the OEGBs and black chicks from a red roo over white hens in the silkie pen. It does make it interesting!

That I am learning! I don't care for white birds myself. So I never had any. Other than Cornish-Cross to put in the freezer.

I did it! I ordered gold duckwing bantams.
