Thank you Eva, I couldn't help but laugh when the Sherriff told us the neighbor called them tonight to tell them we shot their dog! OH I forgot to ADD! They told them (I) shot the dog! The profanities were mainly I thought focused on DD, but now know they were for me! I don't even know what kind of gun DH has, it's black? I have never shot a gun in my life! Although it wouldn't probably be a bad idea to take lessons. Lol Yep, relief as soon as PO said his first words! Thanks for the sentiments!!

He-he, I don't know if I'd even give them that much credit! LOL Good one JP!!!

I'm glad your DD got to voice her opinion. I'm sure the sheriff took that into account as well, seeing as how he was on your side from the word go. Hopefully now that the neighbors have been "talked to" things can get nack to normal- or at least as normal as they can be. I'd still be waiting to hear from the CA tho. No matter what, keep us posted- we're behind ya all the way!

Just one more question... How are the remaining chickens?

That is great news! Hopefully this will defuse the situation. They've now had their audience with the law and the law has explained to them that you were within your rights and your actions were more than reasonable under the circumstances. Also, they're now aware that the law has ALL the facts including their harassment.

IF they are at all rational, this should be the start of the end of denial and the start of healing for them so they can move on and leave you alone.

Iowa Roo Mom
Other than 3 juvi chickens and her one guinea(lost her last night) they are back to normal. The 3 have still have symptoms of some nasal discharge and coughing, ruffled feathers, lethargic? I have them on electrolytes, and force feeding them wet special foods, boiled egg, wet mash, yogurt and such. Two of these juvi birds are a roo and hen that DD hatched from "Pumpkinpups" eggs(4). And the dog got one of the other ones (It's in the pic of the chickens on my BYC page about the dog attack) So that leaves me with one healthy hen out of her eggs. The other juvi chicken(hen) was one hatched from a neighbors eggs. Still just as special. They all were. DD had the grandparents buying her eggs, and grandparents coworkers. I hate to say this, but she sold just about all she got, and left us with enough for weekends. LOL She's a good girl, and I really considered this her first job. Making contacts, collecting eggs, washing them, marking them, selling them(making change) in her head, not that she charged alot. LOL But she'll build back up her flock, when she's ready. Now to just get oldest DD into comp. graphics somewhere! Lol, and can;t forget the 2yr old, but it'll be a few years yet.

Thanks for asking!

I am so sorry for your loss, your DD having to view the tragedy, & I am so thankful she was unharmed.

Your neighbor's behavior since the act is absolutely ludicrous, I'm glad they called the sheriff so that it culminated in a reaction and I hope that will be the end of it. People capable of such hateful behavior are truly incomprehensible, and perhaps the law will keep them in check. I would keep the monitor on and have a camera ready as much as possible, in case they try anything funny in the future.

I hope you do pursue compensation-and get your DD some really special chickens when you receive it-she deserves them!
