cmjust0 No we haven't sent the letter yet, we were waiting for CA to get back with us in case we should add something to it, and see what he had to say. I'll let you all know, as soon as I know!

Obviously they still think they are right, as they haven't even offered an apology, much less ask how DD is, or offer compensation. Just CRAZY DUMB. Thanks BTW!

Im4Eggcellence Will do! And thanks for the laugh this morning, I'm going to tell hubby that one (bullet)!

aidenbaby Yep, momma AND daddy bear mode!Lol

Those people that have harrassed you and your family and by letting their DUMB A** dog to kill your daughter's flock are completely idiots as they should have kept their dog in their own home from trouble in the first place to begin with. If that had ever happened to my flock I would do the same thing

I'm glad the law is on your side, stay on your guard though. These people are something else and just can't be trusted even if they do apologize which would be the smart thing for them to do at least on their sons part harrassing your little girls but like we said before "idiots breed idiots"

If there's anything positive to come out of this unfortunate situation, maybe it's to give us all a big collective kick in the rear to learn what our rights are in regards to protecting our feathered friends.

I was poking around and found this site hosted by Michigan State University's College of Law that makes that pretty easy for everyone. Just plug in your state on the left and animal law for your state is summarized. Everyone might want to take a look, so you'll be prepared with knowledge before that dog shows up in your yard.

I don’t know if anyone has offered, I’m sure they did but if your DD wants more eggs to hatch I have RIR’s I could send. Free. I get about 10 eggs a day. I could save for 3 day and send them. Let me know. I would love to see how my eggs do shipped.

Yes!! I think it should be STICKIED, if that is allowed. For quick reference, right up there with types of predators and how they cull their prey. Maybe even HJ's letters for example. IDK, just an idea!

ginbart you are a sweety to offer! ALOT of BYC'ers have offered eggs in my thread and PM's too. DD has said that she is/was not ready yet, she was afraid that if neighbors retaliated, she'd loose even more. But I'll ask her again. We are even standing outside when we let our own dog out to do his business. We are keeping a VERY close eye on everyone and everything still. But thanks again for the offer!!

Sorry this happened it could have been much worse had the dog turned on your daughter. Feel for the chickens and the dog and you and yours. Not for the family though, owners gotta take responsibility to keep their dogs safe from doing things that will harm themselves. Animals have the right to expect their owners to keep them safe. Your neighbors failed their dog. Unfortunately the dog had to pay the price. Take care and God Bless.

Genesis 2:15 ........and put him in the garden of Eden to dress and to "keep" it.

keep = to watch over, preserve, keep, watch

Bless the beast and the children, for in this world the have no choice, they have no voice,.......... (Karen Carpenter)

but we don't know who the dog belongs to. I had 25 hens and 10 roosters...now have 10 hens and 3 roosters. We wait with a 22. I have another order coming for 25 hens the end of May. I will also start my flock of Naked Necks. (2 roosters, 6 hens) Does anyone have these? Helen
