I love my goat kids......we had 5 born today & lost 3 of them......our kiko is the dad too........and the mom to triplets is a nubian/boer cross. However, none of the babies made it from her this year. She has always been a good mom. Dunno what happened this time.

We bottlefed 3 last year because of some of the moms having triplets, and couple yrs ago we had a set of quads

I think we have had 15+ kids born the past 2-3 weeks. Not all have made it.....not sure what is wrong this year, seems they die right after being born, or the moms are not doing their job, even though they always have before.

This is our first year with the Kiko billy. Maybe that is what is wrong this time.

Yeah, or you hold the mother but the kids eat every few hours. Usually first time Nubian moms need to be held still but to be sure baby gets colostrum, if mom is being difficult I just milk her and bottle feed baby so it gets a good start. The moms seem to figure it out after a day or so of being forced into it. Usually the meat goats don't have those issues. Sometimes Nubian babies don't get the hang of walking for days. The meat goats are following ma around usually the first day. I have used several different kiko bucks and never had issues with kids dying unless mom didn't clean off the sack, or sometimes they lay on them. We had three sets of triplets this spring. One of those mothers laid on one kid. One refused to feed a little doeling, and the kiko mom raised all three herself. We have never had quads. I love how the goats clear the brush and weeds out of the pastures. Goats are terrific pets too, quite smart.;-)

I have a billy boer here at the house.....he has done some major work on the brush & other undergrowth so we could get in with chainsaw & bobcat to clear off some woods.

Neighbor wants to borrow him now

The nubian cross that had triplets, had twins last year......and she can & will only care for one usually. I got the other - she was one of the three we bottlefed last year, she is here at my house too. She thinks she is a dog, eats leaves & grass & such, but prefers to eat goat food out of a dog bowl.

Will follow me all over the yard.

We have one DD is bottle feeding now

Hope it does OK.......it does not seem to be as full of energy as the others its age. It was one of a set of triplets I think.....IDK - mom was not feeding it .... It seems to be doing better on raw milk than anything else. Hope it will replace her bottle fed baby that was killed couple months ago by neighbor's dog.
