Maybe we could show them how to package the eggs properly and they could re-send your eggs. Some of the newer shippers are still learning to package. I had to package differently this time, so I am hoping that mine make it all intact. I used lots of bubble wrap, so I am

Whatever happened to doing the test eggs for trying out your first shipping experience? There used to be a bunch of them, and I know that I sent out I think two packages of free eggs (for cost of shipping) to make sure that my shipping method would work properly. Why don't newbies do it anymore?

I, too, I have had issues with the PO. I shipped eggs on Saturday that were not scanned at any PO's along the way and they just made it to the BYC member's PO today. I also shipped eggs to another BYC member last month and they were only scanned when I dropped them off at the PO and never scanned when they were delivered. I contacted the member and they were delivered on time, but had they not been honest, I never would have known. Also, I shipped another package of eggs, and USPS 'Missent' them, but at least they, too, arrived on time. None of the Post Office branches that are close to my home scan packages at the counter when they're dropped off because they claim they cannot do this. If I want this done, I have to drive about 15 miles each direction just to have them scanned in as "Acceptance" for tracking purposes. This has caused a lot of stress and anxiety recently and am thinking of paying extra for Signature Confirmation so I will know when the eggs are delivered. My shipping labels are always prepared online at usps.com and printed onto self-adhesive shipping labels so delivery confirmation is always part of the label--it's less expensive and more convenient. I don't know what more can be done because there are no good alternatives to USPS Priority Mail.

If I were you, I'd contact the USPS regional site and have them call your local PO and tell them that they need to scan the packages. That just sounds incredibly shady. I've never heard of such a thing, and I've used a lot of different post offices to deliver eggs, all with DC tags on them, and they were ALWAYS scanned in immediately, as they were processing that package.

I agree with bettacreek. There's a place online (google it) where you can contact the postmaster general through email. And believe me, it works! My husband ordered some trapping lure from a supply company, and when it arrived at the PO the box had an odor to it from the lure inside. The PO called my husband at work, and said that if he didnt pick it up immediately she would call the bomb squad (lol, but true). He was ticked off, and emailed the post master general. The same day, he recieved a call from our post office sincerely apologizing for her own behavior. Emailing them works!

Get this! I bought eggs from SCBirdfarm in western Ohio. The PO sent them to Pittsburgh airport, then to Tulsa, OK, airport, and finally back to me in eastern Ohio.

Eggs were in transit at least 2 days longer than they should have been. Thankfully the box still looked good and I was still able to set the eggs. But I like to buy from people close to me to avoid long trips for the eggs.

Note that I don't believe this was the senders fault.

I thought it sounded strange, too. I've shipped hundreds of packages via USPS Priority Mail (domestic and international--eBay and personal) from Tampa, and every location scanned in every package. Even the ones inside convenience stores. I will call and check on this. Thank you.

I have a request . I have been buying alot of eggs and doing some swaps. When mailing out eggs please include your real name screen name swap name and what web site you are from.

It would make my thank yous much easier.
