I was thinking the same thing. Not everyone can afford to pay high prices for eggs but that doesn't mean we wouldn't like to have some nice birds also.

I personally would rather eat eggs from the most expensive birds I own then sell them and eat those nasty things from the store,

I understand her comment....Think about all the money and hard work that was put into them...and them having them go for real cheap...might as well feed her family with the eggs instead....

I understand what everyone is saying about the Lav Orp eggs going for cheap. I think for the most part if you want a higher sale price you have to go with the formal auction here, or ebay or eggbid. Or just set a higher reserve price so you don't have to sell them at a loss. I think this thread is really a great place to get good stock for bargain prices, and I love it. So much so that I have to ban myself from even looking at the Crazy Egg Train or the Crazy 24 hour auction!

Oh don't get me wrong about the chains and auctions I love them. But it is disheartening when last year you spend $200+ on a dozen hatching eggs that are now going for $14.....

That is the market, though. I still have a calculator that cost me over $100 when the just started coming out. Now you can pick one up at Walmart for 5 bucks.

I think this a wonderful way to get some really nice birds. I've spent many many dollars on eggs. Its nice to get some at a real bargain price. Doesn't mean I won't do biz with these folks at a later date and pay them a lot more!

I dont imagine I'll even breed lavenders next year to sell. Just do small pairings to better my own birds.

Well I can't seem to catch any eggs I'd like to get so I guess I'll put my Dominique eggs in the bator tommorrow morning.
