online Crazy Egg Chain Chat thread

I expect at least 6. So I would be happy with 8. However, with that being said, if they arrived and more than 2 were broken, I would message you to let you know I didn't get at least the 6.

I try to send a couple extra but the hens don't always want to lay. As far as the swaps go unless they state that they are going to send 6+ I don't expect extras. The rules say 6 eggs and that is all I expect and even if couple are broken that is the risk with shipped eggs.

I agree

I typically send 8 eggs. The primary reason is because at the moment I only have 2 of each breed laying and it would take too long to gather a dozen to mail. I reckon folks would rather have fresher eggs than extra eggs

The Runners have more layers so I'll usually sent about 10 depending on what they leave in the nest. I pack them very well and so far haven't heard from anyone saying they'd received broken eggs. However, I got a swap on Monday and that box was totally mangled by the PO... even though the sender had done an excellent job of packing the eggs I still lost 3. But I don't hold the shipper responsible for that because I could tell she had done her best to wrap them up really well. Besides, she sent 10 on a 6+ order and I think that was totally awesome!

My reply to LMiller.....

Yes, I did email them twice, but I was told the email never went through. Then I have been on vacation, so I wasn't really concerned about pictures. Considering I am not trading at present...what does it matter? I have some pictures of them, and someday I will figure out how to correctly post them

If you have the pics, you're welcome to email them to me, and I will post them for you.
Yes, you have been on Vacation.....but, I think you should have sent the eggs you owed out, BEFORE you went on vacation. Or, at least PM'd the ones you still owed eggs to, explaining they would be at your mercy, as to when you felt like shipping their eggs to them....since you were going to be on vacation, and all.

True, you are not trading, at present.
BUT, you are back from vacation, and once again, watching the thread, and posting the popcorn smiley. So, one would believe you are actively watching the thread again, waiting to accept an offer. As a common courtesy, for future offers from you...and, as a courtesy to those who already have your Leghorn eggs, I think you would care enough to post the pics of your birds. That way we would know what quality of birds, we are agreeing to hatch and raise.
It's also part of the rules on this thread. "Please post a pic if you have one it will help your egg move."

Then again, I understand, some know nothing of common courtesy.

I have 1 more duckling in the bator waiting to go in with the others and another pipped that is a swedish and another bbs orph that had difficulty making it and is also still in the bator.

That last orph was the strangest thing I ever saw. It had so much liquid in the shell it just poured out. It was a brownish color. None of the other eggs in that bator where too wet, just that one. It also had a glob of a brownish yolk still attached. It's all better now but because it was so wet it's down is stuck down and i've been working on fluffing it up. The others peck at it's backside so I have to keep it separate for now.

The duck eggs are in a different bator because the need for higher humidity. There are 5 sweedish still in the bator waiting to hatch. Today is actualy their lock down date.

Emvickery, How did your eggs do from me ?

As far as the rest of it . IMHO if you have eggs non-shipped no one can play in the sand box

I still have people that owe me eggs from last year.
Point being this is supposed to be a fun ,get a little something, swap a little something thread.
Everyone that participates should abide by the rules and common courtesy as at least 1/2 of us have more of someone elses birds than they do

Just sayin everybody play nice in the sandbox

I forgot, which ducks did I get from you? I think they where the pekin and swedish. If so I have 2 left. A snake got the big swedish and I still have the little swedish and the pekin. They're enjoying their enclosure and pond. We're going to finish it by lining the inside and bottom with concrete. We have a liner in it now and I keep the water low so nobody else drowns. That last mouth to bill saved the little one but it may not work again and I don't want to take the chance.

I have more ducklings that hatched and more to hatch. I got 5 indian runnersout of those eggs. One died. I think it drown in the water. I found it near the water dish anyway dead. DH said he has seen it having what looked like seizures when I was gone. Something may not have been right.

But I have more in the bator waiting for them to hatch.
The previous 2 sunning themselves on a rock by their pond.

OSB=oriented strand board. It's like plywood but made of big 'chunks' of wood glued together. It's also about 1/2 the price of plywood.

Ok now I am amazed and thats hard to do lmbo
Shelleyd actually knew what osb stood for

This has been my worst year ever for shipped eggs.
hit.gif
I tossed 16 earlier today........two were rotten & all the others were either completely scrambled or severely detached air cells. A lot more earlier quitters than usual too -those seem to be the ones that go bad- and I don't candle until day 18 - so by then some are ROTTEN!!!!!!!!

My best development on shipped eggs so far, is showing to be ducks, turkeys & guineas. Not sure how they will be doing come hatch day though!

Ducks and guineas handle shipping a lot better than most other species. Idk about turkeys, I never have very good luck with those.
