online Crazy Egg Chain Chat thread

no-siree-bob! I've recieve broken eggs before on some really excellently packed eggs and I would never hold that against the sender. I think most folks do their best to get you the eggs in 100% condition, but I swear that the PO sometimes plays warehouse hocky with the boxes.

All that said, I still believe that common sense is not as common as you'd think.

Hey... someone said that if you mark the box "syrup" that they're gentler with the handling because if they bust the box it gums up the equipment and they have to clean it. Dunno if this works or not. I mark all mine with this giant sticker:

I dunno if it ensures better handling enroute but I certainly get some interesting looks at the Post Office! LOL!

I have gotten to where I don't mark my boxes at all!!!! I pack them tight and snug and pray for the best. I was told by a po employee that they employee those that will shack the box and listen for hatching chicks!!

Shake the box How rude LOL

Not complaining about the swaps I love them.

Oh! I'm sorry! I'm not talking about your egg shipping mess! I was referring to the other drama taking place on the thread. Whoever sent you those eggs needs to be stoned!!!!!! Did you buy them off of ebay?

Nevermind, i just reread your post and see that it was a side trade.

Just for future reference, if you ever buy eggs from ebay and pay for them thru paypal and they show up looking like that - close the box back up, tape all the cracks and edges up to hold it all in and send them back. It will cost you returned postage but that may be a lot less than the costs of the eggs. File a complaint with paypal and give them the return delivery confirmation #. Once paypal confirms the eggs have arrived back to the original destination they will refund your money 100% including shipping.

That may also show some sellers what kind of mess they are shipping..

I think the PO workers should be put in a box and shipped. I had wonderfully packed, double-boxed eggs arrive today. Marked extremely fragile. Smashed corner. 3 completely and totally shattered eggs. I'd like to ship a few PO employees.

Dear Seller, I am very disappointed in the quality of the eggs you sent. I understand the broken one is due to the PO rough handling, even though it contaminated two other eggs. I do have a problem with the ones that did arrive undamaged. Four of those were misshappen, and I do not set misshappen eggs due to lack of hatchability. I am not sure if the thin shells on them were due to the odd shapes, or a lack of oyster shells in their diet, but I expected eggs that I could incubate especially considering the price & breed of these eggs. Even though the auction was for 10, and you sent 12, I can only incubate 5 of those. (12 minus 1 broken minus 2 contaminated minus 4 misshappen) .. I would like to know if you are willing to work with me on this in regards to making this problem with the product itself right. I really would like to add this wonderful breed to my flock, and was looking forward to hatchable eggs. ..BlahBlah

If you get an attitude or no response whatever, after three days or something, I would open claim with ebay and or paypal. It is not a shipping issue when it is the eggs themselves.

Just a little input on Ebay and Paypal policy for my experience . . . . you can file a complaint but its up to the seller to issue the refund. Paypal will automatically refund your money if you show proof that you returned the item with a tracking number and it was delivered back to the seller. I know thats hard to do with eggs and paypal just don't grasp that. Shipped eggs fall under that buyer beware risk. We're all at risk on both sides of the fence.

Ebay will issue a refund (take it out of the seller's account) if you open a case and the seller is found at-fault.
I had a person open a case on me not to long ago. I was not about to send a refund as I feel I did nothing wrong. The buyer got a refund, paid by Ebay. They found neither of us at-fault but since they wanted to keep the buyer happy they gave her money back to her.

I would just like to post an exception to the rule of eggs being treated badly when marked eggs.

If I get a box that is unmarked it is normally destroyed. If it is marked fragile its 50/50 but if it is marked eggs it rides on the front seat from the sorting facility to my post office where it is gently set on a separate table and I am called at approximately 8am to come pick them up. As long as they know they are eggs. My post office holds anything that is marked fragile or egg for me the carrier never gets the box. They have my phone number posted on the wall and they know me by name. Of course it is a kind of small town, but they didn't start treating me well until I was coming in 1-2x a month.

I had a box that came from a swap that was mailed in a shoe box covered in brown paper. It was placed on the bottom of a stack and when the man that works at my post office saw it he put in a complaint for me because it was on the bottom. It made no difference to him that it wasn't packaged properly it wasn't treated like a fragile package and he was mad for me. I had 2 broken eggs but still got a 50% hatch from them.

got a well packaged box today with i think 11 eggs in it. person shipped 5 extras.

labelled live hatching eggs. with a picture of chicks on it.

my po sent it in a separate car LOL not with my PO carrier. so they got VIP treatment.

I think my po is finally understanding that anything that comes in a box in the last month is eggs.

though the last box before this one all the eggs were ok only one tiny fragile stamp on it. no mention of eggs or whats in side.

oh the one box before that one labled live fish 1/2 the eggs broken.... po kicked it arround a bit - it should have been to my house on sat but didnt get here until monday so who knows what they did to it. glad it wasn't live fish... dont think they would have made it.
