Put a little diaper on it and keep it in your bra.
Then if it peeps, you hear it. Actually, I do keep my new babies in a small fish tank with a light
Kind of a glass case.
Got the Delaware run finished except a bit of paint. So I put the rooster in there and the girls can look at him through the window . They henpecked him when I first put him in with them. He is a young guy, but old enough to crow. So once he feels at home in the run, I will let the girls out and they can meet in his territory. Hope that helps.
I put food out today for our new barn cat. He chose us, just showed up one day. He/she went in with the silkies and was after mice. As long as it doesn't mess with my chickens, I am ok with it. But I need to find out if it is male or female, in case it needs to be fixed. I think the neighbors left it there when they moved out. Their cat was often having kittens, so it may be one of those. It will not let me get anywhere near it yet. My house cat hates other cats, so it will have to be happy with living in the barn.
So the latest project is a grow out pen, it is 8x8 and 6 feet high. I have most of the frame up, and a lot of the wire . But of course I need to buy more wood and wire, there is never enough. And I need to build the door. Tomorrow I am off to Lowe's.
I got stung by a hornet yesterday , man that hurts! Today my finger is all swollen like a sausage , even though I took Benadryl right away. Put ice on it too.
So I went on Craigslist , found a guy with a Bator and turners, you can never have enough of those...
