DD said she bet it was a good one. We can usually pick out good cameras by the pics.

We want a good one....but she would break it. She broke her samsung point & shoot by dropping it in the creek.

yeah we are going on Tuesday! Taking my dads ashes out to sea, he passed away last memorial day. We are going out with Miss Judy Charters in Tybee Island will be a 10 hour offshore fishing trip and burial at sea ceremony. Then Thursday on my way home stoppin by Zeagler Duck Farm to pick up a pair of mandarins and a pair of pigeons and probably as many eggs as I can manage LMAO But to answer your question we have a really good neighbor who lets our dogs in at night and out during the day and there is a boy who lives on the other side of the neighbor who is 10 he likes to make money so my grandfather has had him helping him with the new mandarin pen and feeding the animals, so he knows what to do while we are gone. This is our first time leaving the birds all alone so we will see how it works out. Usually I go on vacay and leave my grandfather here lol. Sounds evil but he doesnt want to go visit my mom for a week so he stays and gets peace and quiet and I go and my daughter and I go see mom. My daughter is excited because my mom lives near Tybee my daughter will be spending 2 days with her Nana and she says Nana is GOING to take her to the BEACH! lol. Well, I cant wait to get out of here for a few days but I sure hate the car rides, they are MURDER on my lower back and left hip. Tell your hubby you will leave him at home to take care of the birds so you can go on a vacation

I didn't go on vacation but I was gone for a week at the hospital with my grandson. DH was here for about 3 days and the rest of the time the neighbor which is also my brother n law was suppose to be tending to feeding and watering and didn't. I came home to empty feeders and waters. The only dead chicks where some in the hatcher that didn't hatch. The water wells where dry and the air cells where nearly half the eggs. Only 2 chicks where dead the other eggs where clear so not a huge loss. The grow pen's lid was propped open and the ducklings and guinea keets where vulnerable to predators but where all there. One keet's knees where stuck in the wire floor and apparently had been a few days. After I rescued it and got it in and warmed up with food and water it died a few hours later. I knew it was near death but had to try to save it. I lost a 2 ducklings after I moved them to the duck enclosure but the rest are doing fine.

I moved the keets outside to a pen and out of the grow pen and all are fine. A snake has stolen most of the eggs from the bbs side of the silkie coop. I had 2 chicks hatch under a broody and they're now in the brooder inside. As soon as we get the grow pen moved out of the shed the chicks inside will go out in that.

I was lucky enough to have most of the GG bob whites hatch. I still have aobut 5 eggs still in the hatcher hoping they will hatch. And 1 jap bantam egg left to hatch. My next lock down is on the 7th and they are sizzles. I don't know what these will look like since they are from the new calico roo I put with the sizzle hens. One of the blue sizzle pullets is about ready to lay. All my sizzles except for 1 is with the calico silkie roo. That other one is with a blue cockereal.

None of the eggs under the partridge hen where good so I gave her 6 from the sizzle pen since she wants to sit she may as well sit on eggs. So far the fertility of the sizzles has been 100%. The silkies stopped laying except for the black hen and she just stopped when she decided she wanted to sit. So no silkie eggs right now.

If they where laying I would be trading or selling them.

Ok i went Garage sale's this morning and instead of buying nick nacks, I bought a incubator and 3 baby ducks. I think I have a hatching problem. Now I have 4 incubators.

Yeah, good help is hard to come by. Last year when I went on vacation we had that dog attack that killed my brahma pullets which were almost laying age. The lone survivor is my favorite chicken, and she lives in the barn with the silkies. I guess I'm going to have to sell off a lot of these chickens if I want to go on vacation.
I know I am a hatchaholic, I just bought a second cabinet Bator because the first one was full and I really needed one with turners. It is plugged in and up to speed, I just need to transfer some from the other Bator. Yeah, I am chicken crazy and I love it!
This morning I got the sprinkler going on the front pasture, no rain in sight and unbearably hot. I moved a few more plants from my flower garden to another bed, I am making a stone walkway through the front garden. It's hard to even get in there if a person had time to pull weeds. Then I went and gave all the critters fresh water again, we all have our tongues hanging out. In the 90s in June does not bode well for July and August. There are blooms on the mums, I thought they bloom in fall?
