Online Dating - Who did it work for? FIRST DATE TONIGHT

My ex and I met online and were together for 3.5 yrs. It didn't work out for us, but that had nothing to do with meeting on line...heck, after 3.5 yrs, the online part as an excuse becomes null and void.

A friend of mine met his wife online in 2000 and began dating in 2001. They are so perfect for each other!

Scott and I met online, but not on a on-line dating service. We both belong to a forum theultimatefarscape.com and we became friends. "talked" for about three years. We've been married for seven

...too bad the feed store didn't have a singles want ads'. At least that way, I would have a better chance of meeting a country minded man.

Isn't that the truth! Same thought's crossed my mind a time or 10, lol. It's hard to find someone likeminded in the areas that count.

I think just about every single person I know uses online dating, many exclusively. My family is all for online dating. 2 almost got married, 1 did, and I know someone else that met online, dated 2 years, got engaged, then promptly broke up after that. I met someone online who ended up being one of my very best (platonic) friends in the world. I'd do a hangout type thing maybe and see where it goes. I've only met with a few people off those sites, in a low key group setting for safety's sake. I was not interested in seeing them a 2nd time, lol...one had anger issues over an ex, another was a braggart that couldn't stop trying to impress me with his material things, and one was so pompous it's a wonder he didn't pop.

Gotta say, though, we've had a few laughs over some of the odd things people have said.

One of the funniest online dating instances for me was a guy that responded to my profile on Countrymatch.com. When I finally agreed to have coffee with him he showed up walked into the yard and was promptly chased out by Nugget, my big red roo. That was a couple of years ago,, I haven't tried it again since then, although I did reactivate my profile on Match.com briefly but then shut it back down.

Or FIRST MEET RATHER.

I put myself back on Plenty of Fish. I've been talking to three men in my area. Two of them have somewhat puttered out with the conversation.

I have exchanged several emails and 3 lengthy phone calls to Steve who I am meeting tonight for appetizers at a local mexican restaurant.

He sounds like a great guy with a lot of common interests. He owns his own construction company - doing a lot of work himself, so handy and good with his hands. Hobbies include glass blowing, sea kayaking, and most recently ballroom dance lessons.

Married once - divorced 15 yrs (longer than me at 12 yrs), 1 daughter a few months younger than mine. Gets along with the ex. Last relationship was 2 yrs ago (3 yrs for me).

He was raised in Air Force family. Has lived all over the world and likes it in the Pacific NW. Likes animals. Spent a great deal of time at his little Italian grannies house helping out with the farm - collecting and washing eggs for sale, butchering chickens, etc.

I'm excited and nervous at this first meet which still feels like a blind date even though we have talked.

WISH ME LUCK!!!

Good luck -- sounds really promising!

I've done POF off & on before but it was hard keeping up with the responses. There's lot of activity there, for sure!
