Oregon Fall Poultry Swap! 9/25/10 11am **all details on first post!*

Hi,

Can you come to the swap if you have nothing to bring? I'm in the city and can only have so many chickens but would love to come and see all the different breeds and birds.

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July

I purchased 2 roosters from different lines and 4 hens from a third line. Some of birds came eggs from a breeder called "Pips and Peeps", the second one was Cree Farms and the third breeder I will need to look up as I can't remember it off hand. We have had several nice chicks hatch from these birds and all look very nice, very correct. I plan on taking a handful to Lane County Fair to Show. I also have some nice Buff Cochin Cockerels (bantams) available from the Karl Rau and Doug Bishop lines. I will post the third breeder on the SQA's when I look it up in my records.
Thanks for your interest
Jen

At the risk of sounding like a total chicken newbie (oh wait... I *am* a total chicken newbie!) can I ask a stupid question? Never been to a swap meet of any sort before. Looking forward to this one, wherever it may be. What I'd like to know is, are chickens and such out there in cages with LABELS? I know, sounds stupid, but I would love to see some of these breeds that I do have and don't have but don't want to walk around saying "what's that?" "what breed is she?" "is that a rooster or a hen?"
Is it set up like the fair? Does everyone there to swap have booths or are people mingling with their chickens?

See, told you it was going to be silly. (Moved here from Tahoe 2 years ago. Not exactly a "city" girl, but hardly country!)

Oh, not at all! We were ALL newbs once, and how do you learn if you don't ask questions?? No, there's no labels, but if you see something that interests you, just ask, we are all more than happy to talk about our birds and answer questions! At the last one, it was in a parking lot, so everybody just set up behind their vehicles, and then you could just walk around and see what was there. I had a big piece of poster board on a table listing out what I had, and how much I wanted for it, and crossed things off as they sold...
