Oregon Fall Poultry Swap! 9/25/10 11am **all details on first post!*

@ Cloverleaf.....That sounds fine, I'm assuming the trio is a female trio? I've offered up one of my SLW hatchery quality pullets to Zoomumzy's friend so I have room for a few more...so if it is a complete female trio, I'd take all 3, but if someone else speaks up, I'd be willing to split the group up as well, I'd be open to take only two, but if Zoomumzy's friend wants my SLW, I'd take all 3....
PS-- @ Zoomumzy...I live in Corvallis so if your friend wanted to do the transaction sooner, that would be possible since I noticed that you are in Philomath!

Cloverleaf...That is what I thought, but wanted to confirm...is the rooster SQ? If someone else speaks up and wants the rooster then fine, but I would take the trio, I cannont guarantee that the rooster would make it to a breeding pen though..depending on his quality. If someone else wants the rooster for breeding then I would happily give him up! (I'm working on setting up a quality breeding operation) If no one speaks up then I would take the trio but no guarantees to the outcome of the rooster...

I have no idea if he is SQ or not, he did come from a breeder here on BYC, and not a hatchery, but I don't know anything about Sussex. I do think that he has too much white on him, as I think I read somewhere that you don't want too much white...?? If he became Sunday dinner, I don't think anyone would care...

Well that answers the question! We are in the city still and not allowed roosters, if he was worth hiding then I would do so, if not, dinner it is! And you are right that you do not want too much white on them, but they molt out with more white every year so its a loosing battle just like 'grey' horses

I swore I'd never have another one of those either

Zoo...my husband wants a cheesecake! Blackberry topping with filberts in the crust? Is that do-able? Let me know, if so, then count us in!

(If I have to bribe him with cheesecake, I will, I have NO shame

) and how much if it is possible?

ETA: he wants a "true" Oregon cheesecake

If I can find filberts by Monday, yes. If you have a lead on where to get some locally, that would be awesome! As far as the topping, that's up to you! I will make my plain cheesecake and then you can put whatever topping you want on it. If I try to put toppings on cheesecakes that are being transported around it becomes a big mess. The cheesecakes will basically be on a plate and wrapped in saran wrap on dry ice. What I could do is puree some blackberries and weave it through the cheesecake? That would be easy enough to do. Let me know!

If I can't find filberts, do you still want one?

And I wrote my neighbor last night and told her I needed an answer in a day or two so hopefully she will find out today. That is awesome you are in Corvallis!

I've always gotten them and hazelnuts from the Corvallis Farmers Market, but that seems like a bit of work for a cheesecake

If you have or are getting hazelnuts that would be good too, or none! As far as the blackberries, I get your drift on the topping thing, I can picture a very ugly mess in your car! Woven into it would be perfect (That's how I prefer mine

).
As far as your neighbor, no hurries, like I said, I'm not REALLY pursuing getting rid of her, so no time crunch! If she does want her great, if not, that's ok too!

I just wanted to bring this up since we haven't really talked about it since the beginning of the thread, but are people still planning on bringing potluck things to share? If so, maybe we should start a little list of those items too? Would be nice to have some sort of idea.

I'll start: I'm planning on bringing at least 2 cheesecakes, sliced. I doubt I'll have time to bring anything else, but you never know! I can update next week when I see how things are going

Oh, I thought I should mention again that the site cost $50 to reserve. We haven't really mentioned that since the beginning either. I know it's not expected, but I'm planning on donating a couple bucks to help out

Yeah, I doubt I'll have time to make it to the farmer's market

I will add a few hazelnuts from the other cheesecake I'm making if that is ok? I have some frozen blackberries so I'll add them to cake.
