I'm learning why the big hatcheries stop selling in the Fall. This is the time of year for switching out breeding stock and things go wrong! No Marans or Ameraucanas in the current hatch as all the eggs were infertile, I guess my new roosters aren't doing there job.

I had a suspicion that might be happening in the Marans pen when I saw an older hen chase the new rooster into the corner after he tried climbing on. I'm not sure what is going on with the Ameraucanas because there is two roos and I've watched the dominate one knock the smaller one off of a hen. I guess that I've never seen him "take a ride" though. On a brighter note, I'll have plenty of Welsummers, EEs, RIRs, Rangers and Red Sexlinks in this hatch to fulfill those orders. As for hatching eggs I'm only going to be selling Welsummers and blue egger EEs as those pens haven't gone through any changes.

Quick update for my list

I have decided to keep my blue Cochin Roo (Sentimental reasons and he is the only one not related to my hens)
Instead, I am adding a very pretty blue partridge LF Cochin (lots of blue on him)
Black LF Cochin- great foot feathering but leeggy, throws gorgeous chicks!
Lemon blue LF Cochin- Sold
I will also be bringing blue cochin POL pullets (hatchery birds)
guinea keets
assorted juvenile guineas and keets
assorted POL egg laying breed and mixed breed pullets
Beautiful Huge Barred Rock rooster

I will also be sorting through about 100 more birds, most of them young, I just have too many breeds to work with.
