Standardizing the Black Asil (cont)

Legs need to be dark swarthy yellow to black.
Beak needs to be dark horn.
Eyes must be pearl.
No white feathers can be showing on the birds.
You want a solid black bird with good green sheen. Purple-ish sheen disqualifies the bird.
Undercolor of all sections: slate to gray.
Due to hardness of feather the undercolor may show through.

For a description of 'black' see the APA Standard for Malay/Shamo.
For a description of the type se the APA Standard for Asil.
Weight on the cock bird is 5 1/2 lbs.
Hen: 4 lbs
Cockerel: 4 1/2 lbs
Pullet: 3 lbs

So this purple is a DQ?

Quote:
The Standard will need to be in the format used in the SOP. Is white a DQ or a cut? How much white is a DQ? What about red feathers? They are usually in the males hackle/saddle. I can work with you on this. Red is currently a DQ in black birds, but purple is just a cut per section of the bird.

There are a lot of blacks around, so this should be fairly easy.

Carl is way ahead of you guys. He's already been on champion row. Tom
