I'm having a hard time getting him/her to eat the non-medicated starter that I gave him/her. Only drinking water right now.

It is best to talk to the duck as trying to feed her, try putting the food and water in a separate dish,* and say "wee-wee" sounds to her. With baby chicks if I try and get them to eat it is "Look-lokk" but with a duck they like "wee-wee" with a question mark ending the wee in an up sound.

Have you tried putting the food on his/ her bill? Or like you do chicks dipping their bill into the mash?

Ducks do not like dry food, they dip it in water. If you ever saw the videos where the duck was feeding gold fish, they were actually just wetting the food, the fish were trying to eat anything that fell off the duck's bill.

There was recently a thread that had someone trying to feed a duckling but she refused to eat until she had a friend to eat with. Not pushing you to get more ducks (though it would probably be good for it) but just letting you know Congrats on the rescue!

Are the drakes or females of this breed loud at all as adults?
