You won't even have to dye them

True Shelley,
They wouldn't need dyed. lol! I think the kids would get a kick out of them! I plan on hard boiling and pickling some of the Coturnix eggs for my son to take in his lunches.

Quaillady~ Do you give that to the button quail? It looks awfully chunky. lol...
In a dish, or mixed with the sand bath?

For the button quail, I mix it in their pine pellets. I don't add a pan in there as the ground is solid and they can dust bathe in it, make their nests out of the hay. When it's time to clean, I take out the tray and a protector thing slides down so the buttons don't get out. Toss the bedding, put the new one in. There is a lot of dust in the oyster shell so they pick what they want. With babies I take a mortle and pestle and beat the shells to a smaller consistency, then put it in the feed.

Do you dump the shavings in your chickens pens so they can get the bigger pieces of shells?

Indeed. I like the water bottles when they don't drip. I have the eco glass bottles for the cbbq and the spicket things hold on pretty tight on the glass. The petco plastic ones deteriorate after a while (cracks and breaks), I am shocked at how many plastic water bottles I went through

OH! The Manna-Pro pullet shell...that is what I get too but my bobs aren't touching it. It is too chunky for them

Can you suggest a solution for me? Should I sprinkle it in their dust bathing pan instead of offering it in the feeder?

My glass Super Pet (blue colored logo on the bottle) bottle doesn't drip at all! Got it from Petsmart.

*EDIT* My bobs' hutch only really stinks when it is super humid out or when the lawn sprinklers hit it in the corner. Other than that, the newspaper & pine shavings do a good job. That's just for my 5 little ones, though.
