Our Mixed Flock Journey!

I like those, just not sure how they would deal with our cold, long winters.

Speckled Sussex are definitely on my 'next' list...had some in a previous flock and love them!

As for any others, I'm leaving my options open

I almost bought some Speckled Sussex...I think there weren't any available when I placed my order, so I had to chose differently. They are beautiful!

Next time I go to select a flock, I'm just going for whatever strikes my fancy and not worry much about egg laying. I mean, I love getting eggs from my own girls but with just 2 of us, I don't need egg laying machines.

We have more eggs than we can use too. I want the Legbars, because they're beautiful, but I also want to breed them for some Olive Eggers. I love colorful eggs, so other than that I'm with you, just whatever I love the looks of. Another one I really like is the Barnevelder!

I've never looked much into the Barnevelder. But I'd probably go for another Welsummer, they have pretty eggs and nice personalities.

I love my Welsummers too! Those are a great choice!

Much better strategy. We did not care that Polish are indifferent egg layers, we wanted one. And Phyllis is the best!
