Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Hope your girl is feeling better today Rene!
She still isn't looking very good! Tail feathers down, head pulled in! She was drinking some water this morning, but not really interested in the morning treat I brought out! Her crop feels completely empty! It also looks like she still has very watery stool! I'm trying to decide if I should treat for Coccidiosis! Adult chickens don't usually get it, but they can and she is definitely exhibiting the symptoms! She was very energetic until yesterday...so it's kind of a sudden onset! I'm going to get a spot ready and bring her in...we finally got some rain last night and it's calling for a chance today, not ideal conditions for a sick girl! I haven't treated my flock for internal parasites, so i guess that could also be an issue, although I haven't seen any signs of this!

Why is she not feeling well? I missed that part of the discussion.
She has very watery poop, that's why her backside was dirty yesterday! Today she seems to be more listless...she was drinking water which is encouraging, but not eating! I'm going to bring her in so I can observe her better...she's exhibiting signs of Coccidiosis, but I don't know!

Chickens are experts at hiding things, until they can't. Good idea to bring her in for observation.

Keeping fingers crossed she'll be ok :fl
I'm learning that! These girls are keeping me on my toes. Thank you Debby!

I'm sorry your girl isn't doing so well. :( I'm not very good with chicken illnesses; I just know they can go down very fast. I hope she improves soon.

Thank you Jehane! I just posted to the emergency thread and eggcessive gave me instuctions on what to try! I will be starting her out on Corid. He also told me of an antibiotic called Fish Mox and said to use Valbazen or Safeguard to worm the flock! I will not use the antibiotic unless she shows no improvement from the Corid! When she is better, I will give worming medicine to the entire flock!

I set Pearl up in the garage! I'm so glad that my son gave this kennel to me, it's perfect for this use! I saw her eat a small amount of feed and the little bowl in there has electrolytes in it! I will be adding the corid after this post!

Shad always recommends worming if someone's a little off. :) I'm a little leery of the ET because it's always the worst possible scenario & simpler explanations get overlooked. Observing first is such a sensible way to go. All the best with her. :hugs

Kennels like that can come in so handy.

Glad you asked about her on the ER forum Rene, there are some good pros there!
