They are that!They're consistent!![]()
Do tell us how it goes. I am going to beat some together and freeze them for scrambled egg or omelet during the winter. No, not yet...I need to get on it! I just pulled out one of the frozen eggs this morning, waiting for it to thaw out, so I can try to fry it! I know @RoyalChick said it changes the texture and I believe her, I just want to see what it's like!![]()
I have almost 9 dozen to put up, it doesn't take long to get that many!
I'm still waiting for the egg I pulled out of the freezer this morning to thaw...I can't believe how long it's taking, but I don't want to do anything different at this point to speed it up! I might put the next ones in a bag and place them under cold water, to see if that will speed up the process!Do tell us how it goes. I'm sorry to hear that. That has to be frustrating.I went out to the chicken pen to see how everyone is doing! My two silky roosters must have really gone after each other...they were both pretty bloodied up and started it again while I was out there. I think we are going to cull them this weekend...just too many roosters!
Thanks Bob! My husband & boys have brought in a lot of wild game, I've even shot a couple...it's a little different with animals that you've raised! We always eat what we hunt. I'm sure he won't make me kill it, but I will help clean it and I'm the one that always cuts up the chickens from the store!I'm sorry to hear that. That has to be frustrating.
I don’t want a rooster either. I think about it sometimes, but I see what happens when roosters go bad, and I don’t want to have to deal with that. I don’t think I could cull my chickens.I only wanted one rooster, I received two with my original order and then I decided that I wanted a FBCM, my friend gave these guys to me! I know where meat comes from and it's not just from the meat department at the store, like some people actually think! At least with these guys I know how they lived...it doesn't make it easier though, I didn't plan on butchering any of my flock! We might be raising some meat birds next year...we'll see how things go, I will have a different mind set about them, but it's still not a fun thing to do!
Well, I am happy to report that Blanche blessed me with another egg today!5 eggs today! I have some slackers...lol! Funny, I just noticed that I only had 5 eggs on October 1st also...the month ended the same way it began!

If I am ever in a position where I need a rooster I am going to Shad for advice 1st. He has a number of roosters. They don't always get along but mostly they do & they respect him. I know it helps if a young cockerel has a mature *good* rooster to teach him, or lacking that mature hens who will put him in his place & teach him manners. The problem I see a lot is people have new, young flocks & the boys get rowdy [as boys do] & there's no~one who knows how to pull them in line. Not the chicken's fault but they pay the price.I don’t want a rooster either. I think about it sometimes, but I see what happens when roosters go bad, and I don’t want to have to deal with that.
