Our Mixed Flock Journey!

I love my cameras. The best thing I ever did! You are going to learn so much more about how they interact.
Good morning Bob! I know how much you like yours...I'm pretty excited to set this up. He only bought one for me, but said I can get another one if I want to...I want to...lol! I might buy 2 more...it depends how much coverage I can get with the first one. I would also like to place one in the coop...I think that would be fun!

I loved having a camera on Sydney as she was hatching this summer. It was amazing to see how active she was while broody. Of course some of the most fascinating videos come at roost time.

I do have to say that on really cold winter days it is really nice to be able to check on them via camera and not have to go outside and open the coop to see.

Belatedly Bob I have to thank you for two complete game-changers for me - the cameras and the heated waterer. Life is so much better with both! Thank you 🙏

It's funny but it feels good to have helped. I wish when I had started out I had known about this site. I am truly glad that my learning the hard way is helping others to not have to do so.

I used to have a heat lamp pointed at their water dish to keep it thawed. So dangerous but I was willing to take the risk to not have to carry water out all day long. Once I got the heated water dish, well it was life changing. Of course this winter I am still providing fresh water every morning like I am some kind of farmer but it is right outside the backdoor for use while they are free ranging.

The cameras are just the best. You get amazing wildlife videos on yours. I need more with sound. They did not have sound ones when I got my first set. I love the new sound one that I have.

Now of course I have too many waterers because I was operating a rotation system with the garage so I always had a defrosted one on hand.
Seriously I could have a chicken waterer yard sale!
I think I will use the old ones in the summer and just know I have spares if any of them break.

They do break. I lost 2 to old age this past year.

Good morning everyone! I haven't had a moment to myself...so no computer time and I'm going to be gone for a couple of more days...tomorrow is my husbands birthday, so we're going to grab a couple of days away from home! Then we will be getting ready to help our youngest son and his family make the big move to Oklahoma! :(
Sounds like you have a busy end-of-year and New Year’s ahead of you.

BY Bob, you have no idea! I have learned so much from you and the other posters in my favorite threads! And of course, the articles, and the medical emergency posts.
I read books and articles I googled about the care and feeding of chickens, but they tend to give general knowledge, and don’t touch on the everyday unexpected things that happen.
This site has helped me beyond belief.

It is so much easier having this group of wonderful resources. I'm glad you joined us. Don't be afraid to offer me some common sense suggestions as well. @MaryJanet changed my life by suggesting a simple phone alert. Sometime I can't see the forest for the trees.
