This is our latest addition, Maggie. We drove 1000 miles to get her! She's a Black Mouth Cur, and just turned 8 weeks old. She's a whirlwind! When she's older she and Woodrow will gather wild cattle.

Wrestling with Penny. She'd fit in her mouth, but she's not scared!

With her proud uncle, Ruger:

Almost all of the gang! Kodiak, Ruger, Penny and Maggie

And Woodrow, my husband's Black Mouth Cur/Tennessee Mountain Cur cross. He doesn't often keep still long enough for photos!

She's a mutt (and my favourite but don't tell anyone else that!). She's half Lab, half neighbourhood dog. I think her dad may have been a Golden Retriever, Border Collie, Aussie, Newfie, or some form of setter. She looks a lot like a Flat Coated Retriever, but isn't all that big. She weighs 55lbs but looks bigger because of her coat. She's my good Search & Rescue dog and a sweetie, although she's crazy too!

Thank you! We just adore all of them. Black Mouth Curs vary quite a bit depending on the bloodline; some are bred strictly for hog hunting (mostly in OK area), some are cattle dogs (southern TX), some do both, and others are squirrel and coon dogs (mostly in the South). Maggie will only be around 50lbs grown, and the critter hunting kind are usually a little smaller. Woodrow's parents were both hog hunters and cattle dogs, and he is around 75lbs. Ol' Yeller was a Black Mouth Cur, and if you spend any time around one you'll realize how they named him!
