Hi Guys,

One of our newly hatched chicks arrived in this world without its upper beak.
I found an article written in 1982 reporting this phenomenon in the Oxford Journal Database.
It's said that the disease has been determined to be autosomal recessive.
I guess this calls for a stop to inbreeding.
Anyways, here are some pictures.
Just FYI.

Kinda looks like a badass...
Pity it won't survive for long.

Genetics are so cool

. They can lead to all sorts of problems, but they also lead to all sorts of good things.
Poor guy got the bad side of genetics I guess.

Best of luck with your newly hatched chicks!

I have seen production layer beak trimming rejects that look no worse.

However it looks like it has other facial deformities and may have poor vision.
