We all seem to agree that no object is worth a person's life... WE believe that... the criminals don't... and we can't brainwash them into believing it. Why should they think crime doesn't pay? Look in the pawn shops, you'll find equipment from my FIL's shop, they break in and steal and the cops do nothing. They don't have TIME to do anything because there are too dang many crooks. And the pawn shop certainly isn't going to admit they have stolen property in their possession, so FIL just has to eat the loss on that equipment that wasn't even paid for. So, work hard, pay your taxes and be stolen FROM. Or be a lying, cheating piece of poo thief and rake in the tax free cash? And as to thieves being sweethearts who wouldn't hurt a fly? How about the ones that beat Fred (the dog) nearly to death? Beat and Beat and Beat... the Vet suspected with bats based on the breaks. Now... you reckon if FIL had had to run up there for something and walked in on that scene that they'd have just let him go? Let him get his phone out and call the cops? Hardly... they'd have covered their tails, by at the very least giving him a head injury so any testimony would be inadmissible. Crooks know all about how to manipulate the system... it's a big business... just ask Cochran.

And.... we can't make every crook ONLY steal... if we could, make it where the vultures only steal to eat, but RUN from anything else then maybe we could live with it... still shoot buzzards... with bird shot... but if we could guarantee that the TV is all they want I imagine plenty would breathe easier... problem of course is that we cannot do that. We don't make that choice, they do. Some are arsonists, some are rapists, killers, pedophiles... and while THEY know what they are and why they are where they are, We Have No Idea. ALL we know is that they are somewhere they were not invited, not welcome, and that the police (if available) will take time to get here.

I don't WANT to hurt anyone, but I WILL protect my children from ANY threat (both foreign and domestic)... as has been my job from the day they were conceived. If you don't want the responsibility of protecting young then don't breed. Bit blunt, but a simple point. You choosing to lay down and die, or defend yourself is your choice. Making the choice to allow a stranger to rape and kill a child that depends on you for protection is another thing altogether. You wouldn't hesitate to join the war on drugs if you found out your child was being sucked in, could end up dead... so why the hesitation to deal with this immediate threat to you or your child's life? I hope like heck if I'm ever in that position that I'll be capable of protecting my kids, since I seriously doubt I could live with myself if I failed them.

If you want to be a thief, you take the risks that come along with the lifestyle... period. Nothing else to say about it.

^ That's Gran, Mom, Uncle Dan, Cousins, etc as well. With their breathing problems they would die a slow, painful, gasping death... slowly suffocate basically, if the A/C was shut off in the summer.

So... slow painful death of law abiding citizens...

Not too hard a choice when you think about it... but then... there's really not much time to think in those situations.

it's what I'm tempted to do to the doctor who botched my wifes delivery. We can't have any more kids, why should he?
