I have a 5-year-old chicken that is panting and her comb is dark. She's a good weight, her vent looks normal, she's pooping, walking around and eating/drinking. No mites or lice. Mouth/throat are clear. No other sick chickens. No new chickens. It's warm here, not hot or cold.

Her belly feels bloated, so at first I thought she had asities (which I've dealt with before several times), but when I tried to drain the liquid, nothing came out. What could be causing this?

Mostly Nutrena All Flock and foraging. A little bit of scratch grains, fresh produce sometimes.

Is her crop emptying by early morning before she eats or drinks? Is her tail held up or down? Is her enlarged lower belly squishy or firm? What do her poops look like, and pictures would be good.

I’ll have to check her crop tomorrow morning. Tail is up. Her belly is firm. Poops look normal, white/green.
