Here is why I would like to be considered for a few eggs:
I own/run Sanga Farm (
www.sangaparties.com). We are a for-profit business, though the "profit" goes into taking care of our critters. With the money we have left over we offer programs for children who live in the city of Memphis, TN to expose them to the joy of animals and agriculture. Our business is owned by myself, my mother and sister. Everything on the property we have built ourselves or with the help of volunteers. If given eggs, they will be made available during the incubation/hatching/raising process to dozens of kids who would otherwise not benefit from this experience. A good majority of our "barn kids" are children who come from broken homes, homes victimized by the economy, and in some cases are children who suffer from a variety of disabilities.
We're always looking for opportunities to increase the educational farm experiences here at the farm, but the budget runs tight. No child, regardless of income, is turned away from one of our camps, riding lessons or volunteer opportunities.
We're a family outfit, not regulated or controlled by the government, and we conduct business from our barn/land.. not a fancy retail front. Though I have been blessed many times over, I would love the idea of teaching the kids at our barn not only about the incubation/hatching process.. but also the importance of paying it forward. All animals raised on our property are used for pets (Though we do eat the eggs!), the kids would riot if any of the animals here were eaten (Not that there is anything wrong with raising chickens for eating, just sharing that the eggs, if donated to us.. would ultimately be pets for life). Extra roosters I end up with are rehomed with other local farms. Thanks for the consideration!
