pea fowl pen

We're cutting a big plum tree way back (have several younger, smaller plum trees also coming up in the same area - these are our small native plums) and pruning it so they can use that, plus will have 2x4 perches in their shed. In the center of the pen we have another tall pole helping to hold up the netting and another perch lower down from that, also 2x4 construction.

I used to have runner ducks in that pen a couple years ago, and I still have "the duck hut" which I'm going to put straw in when the time comes and hopefully they will use that as a nesting box.

What's everybody using for roofing? My chicken coop has tin roof but the peas are roosting so much higher up and it gets so hot here in the summer I'm thinking of using fiberglass panels instead. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

To be honest, i don't know what the name of those plants are. I do know that they can be a tasty treat for the peafowl tho. If you would like i could mail you a couple seeds from these plants. They grow quickly and make these little red flowers. They are next to impossible to kill so let me know if you would like some.

I think your plants are cannas, I have some too they are really great plants.

My plan that i am working on now is 35' long 12' wide and 6' high on the end of the pen there is a 8' deep 12' wide plywood shelter i think this will work but will a mature males train hit the top as he displays??
