pea fowl pen

Yes the plants are canna lily. They grow from rhizomes (type of bulb) underground and spread easily especially in wet areas. Some kinds can be planted from seed as well.
I grow some in my pond sometimes. They also come in red, or green and yellow striped foilage etc so they look pretty even without the flowers. They are related to bananas so should not be toxic or anything. Some of the banana plants in Louisiana (the Bordelon banana that practically grows wild there..has reddish underleaves) should be okay to plant in with them as well and easy to find.

Great pics of pens. I have been researching how to make pens and what I could put in there so I can get some peafowl soon.

Some plants the peafowl will not eat even if they are small. I try to find plants like that mainly to use in the pens. I know one lady who uses angel trumpets.

I really like the look of Fatsias. They look tropical, are cold hardy, and grow well especially if they are right under the roost were the birds poop.

I would not use brugmansia inside thier pens. I do have lots of brugmansia around my property because I hybridize it. My chickens, ducks, guineas, etc. do not seem to bother it when they are freeranging but if I put it inside thier pens they just might eat it due to boredom and it being the only thing around that was green. It is highly toxic.

Lot of room , only thing hope you don't have trouble with predators. Bottom boards make it harder for any predator to push under the wire.
