I got worried yesterday when one of my peahens unusually did not come out of the shelter to spend the night out side.It was unusual and I thought may be she was sick. So i thought may be i should have a peek inside and see what was wrong only to find out that the peahen was sitting in the corner and probably in other hens nest whose eggs are due to hatch in a week and she was also sitting beside the young peahen squashed into each other like possibly fighting to have the place.
In the morning i found out that the young peahen had layed her first egg in the other hens nest.
What should i do?should i remove the egg ,dig a nest nearby and place the egg in it so next time the young peaahen lays an egg she lays in it.Would she be able to recognise her egg?
I am worried that the eggs that are about to hatch in a week their mother might keep on sitting on the eggs of the young peahen not caring about her newborn peachicks
Any help would be appreciated.
