Silkies are great! Boyfriend adores them and wants one added to the flock eventually. They're dang cute and super soft so I'm not gonna complain if he wants to get one

I have. To practically beg naked to my. Husband to let me get the first 4 lol he is. Not thrilled about the barnevelders coming. Silkies are so quite and chill I hope the barnevelder are just as laidback. I tried to get 4 Indian runner ducklings and those things were just so panicky definitely not my pace. We gave them to a farm down the road I will just keep trapping my Slugs with beer, not worth the stress of chasing those ducklings out of My Neighbours gardens and thorn bushes

This is my Clan so far. From back to front MacNugget, Dolomite, Cleopatra and Scooby. MacNugget is for sure rooster Dolomite we are not so sure about, the others we think are hens.

Sorry, I’m no expert in Silkies. Only know it’s hard to see the gender with young Silkies
& Silkies have 5 toes, no feathers and a black skin
& Silkies get broody more often than most other breeds
& Silkies don’t roost in general.

Lol it's all good. What breed do you have? From your SN I am assuming you are up in Holland? I use to live up in Brunssum when I was a little girl.

Yes, I am Dutch, I live in Wageningen, and I have 5 Dutch bantams, 2 naine de Tournaisis and one mix hen.

Sorry, no idea. I am always amazed that anybody can see the difference between hen and rooster in silkies. Sometimes when they are grown and the comb is red and somewhat bigger... yes, I can tell. But not here... you need a silkie specialist.
