Since we don't really have any "local" breeds here, I am planning to import hatching eggs from the UK in spring. OEG (LF) and Andalusians :plbb Both are available in Ireland, but the strain of OEG that I'm after I find near impossible to get hold of and Andalusians are pretty rare here.

Current flock got downsized to 1 Sussex hen and 1 OEG hen.
Do you have a specific variety of OEG in mind?

I do hope you'll be importing a hen to hatch them.;)
I could pick you up some rather nice semi feral Andalusians from up the mountain, pairs of course.:p

Well the Americas have breeds that aren't native, and so does the Eu and African Union
Some African countries have indigenous chicken breeds. For example, in South Africa (where I'm originally from) we have:

Ovambo, Potchefstroom Koekoek, Venda and Boschveld. I had some Bocschvelders as we call them down there. GREAT breed!

I do like the Bocshvelders. Lovely looking chickens imo and very hardy so suitable for free ranging.

They are very hardy, great layers and they have wonderful temperaments too :) Just a great all rounder. I loved mine and a friend of mine had a huge flock of them, I actually got mine off him.
