The babies. They found new heights today... three and a half weeks old.

One of my momma hens hatched them here at home, but unfortunately she got into a fight with something... maybe a rat? And she passed away, leaving these fluffies as orphans.

Few of them seem significantly smaller by now, so I'm starting to suspect some "switch before birth"... But they all seem healthy and get along so I don't mind.Such cute chicks! Are they all pure australorp?

Here an update of our little ones: all 8 look great, are growing fine and now they roost in the Christmas tree . It looks so funny. When they're allowed outside they venture a bit further now. But the broody still tries to keep them close to the run.
