The babies. They found new heights today... three and a half weeks old.

Such cute chicks! Are they all pure australorp?
Yes, they are supposed to be, but I bought them as eggs from a random guy at the train station so if they turn out as something else I will not be shocked.

One of my momma hens hatched them here at home, but unfortunately she got into a fight with something... maybe a rat? And she passed away, leaving these fluffies as orphans.

I'm so sorry:hugs. At least they made it, and now you've got a bunch more birds!

Here an update of our little ones: all 8 look great, are growing fine and now they roost in the Christmas tree :D . It looks so funny. When they're allowed outside they venture a bit further now. But the broody still tries to keep them close to the run.
