Pekin Duck Club!

personally hi would separate the drakes. you say that you still going on the whole time? that he pulls out the feathers and leaves and bloody or next that behavior seems extremely aggressive to me, but my experience is not as knowledgeable as others on here. here are a few means that I will tag to get their attention to this matter they may be able to advise you better. is there any way that you can get us pictures?

@Miss Lydia , @Amiga , @SilkieSensation , @LadyHawkeAvry , and there's Kathy... her name is castophony or something I forget how to spell it.
I agree if the drake is being that abusive he needs some time out, after you have separated him for the others and you see it's still going on then it's elimination until you find the the female doing the abusing, and separate her. I would bet it's the drake though, but seeing your in AUS are your ducks still mating?

sorry i didnt get pictures lol i was to bussy trying to get them in the coup and yes water rolling off there backs like it was nothing and the chickens were being well chicken lol

Your better sense is telling you to separate the drakes from the ducks. The ducks' lives depend on what you do. Really. The "pecking order" stuff does not need to go beyond a little shoving and chasing. Anything beyond that, you split them up and protect them.

Kathy is casportpony, by the way.

I have a friend who I gave my pekin away too and my friend managed to legally obtain two Canada geese. Right now the geese are about a month old and I am curious how they will interact with my pekin and the rest of his flock for that matter. Will they all get along.

Hello
I am new here in BYC .. And am a new mummy to a very cute 3 weeks old duckling and i believe that its a pekin ... iv always been a fan of pekin they have such a personality.
This is my 3ed time to raise a pekin, i felt in love 18 years ago when i had my 1st. However, i never new that ducklings can be dangerous to children and infants and i have two wonderful boys and now i am terrified after reading all the warnings to keep duck and ducklings away from children under the age of 5. I started to see my poor little duckling as a monster covered with cute fuzz.can someone help me to stop worrying .. or i should ?!!
Thank you

Thank you for the advise! I have separated him and am going to get my partner to help me catch the girl with the sore head to treat her and I'll try get a few photos then ! Sounds much worse then it is but I hate seeing any animal get treated like that !

I believe they still are, deffinatly not as much as a couple of months ago but when I let the ducks out in the morning, the back of the girls wings are all dirty and ruffled like the drake has been trying to get on top :/
I swear I need a night camera just to figure out what a going on !

Thanks Amiga :)
He has been seperated so let's hope it is him and not one of the girls.. I swear they can be more aggressive then the drake sometimes ! Makes me wonder if they are crossed with geese !

I don't know how efficient or correct this next piece of info is but I read somewhere whether it was stories guide to DOX or from one of the other ladies post... Put put a drink in a time out for his behavior you would include him in a darker area for 14 to 16 hours out of the day. once I get off of work I will look further on this if you would like me to
