We are putting 100mg in 1 gallon of water. Food is bomgaars non medicated chick feed. 1.5 tablespoons of brewers yeast in 1 cup of food. Mealworms, thawed frozen peas, strawberries and oatmeal. Currently in a large tub with wood chips. Before sick, in a chicken coop small shed/ barn. She was with 2 other Pekins. They are new so we kept them separated. Other birds free range so the 3 Pekins had the run to themselves. Symptoms were sudden a couple days after noticing pigeon toed walk. It is like she is having seizures. She is doing much better. Only 3- 5 seizures a day, but at night they get more frequent and last longer. She tremors, her head goes down, beak in the ground, flops over on her back, beak chatters. During the day she walks around almost like nothing is wrong. At night it gets bad.
Using the niacin since last week Wednesday. Brewers yeast started a week ago monday.
No paint or lead anywhere. Only water access is the water we give them. Will look into durvet b and nutridrench.
We got them when they were 4weeks old. Noticed they walked pigeon toed. Googled that and started brewers yeast, peas, pepitas, and niacin in water.
We took her to a vet and he basically knew nothing and talked to us about the same things wer already googled... and still charged us. We have an appointment with the avian vet on 10/6 (first available appt). They are super busy because the state college where we live is not accepting patients.

There are numerous amounts of things that could cause this type of behavior ranging from nutritional deficiencies, viral or bacterial diseases, neurological damage to the head or neck area, toxicosis, heat stress, amoung other things. In an avian vet office, they would likely start off by taking a thorough look at her past history, understanding which condition would be more likely, then move onto a complete physical examination, then doing several diagnostics test like a CBC, C and S, gram stain, possibly a chemistry panel. Since you probably don't have any of the tools to do those tests, and are unable to see a proper vet, you'll have to treat on an elimination basis for each disease.

I have helped a few other members, and their duck was showing similar signs to yours, and they started their duck on thiamine (B complex) and afterward, there was a rapid improvement. So that's probably where I'd start since you're only supplementing with niacin. If you live near a TSC, pick up some Cattle B complex Injectable and give her 1ml over treats, or orally a day. It may also be a good idea to start her on vitamin E, one human 400iu soft gel capsule a day, along with mashed scrambled eggs for selenium which will help absorb the vitamin E.

If you could post a video of her seizures, and a few picture of her poop, that'd be great.

Thank you for all of this info. My stepmom is caring for her right now because we have 3 kids and had 8 soccer games last weekend. We wanted to be sure she got the attention she needed. I will run down today and get a video and poop pics. More to come soon.

1/2 capsule of B1 per bowl of food (one half cup of food) and 1/2 capsule in each bowl of water. Same amount of B2 and niacin. Had one seizure this morning around 11am. None that we know of since then.
