Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

thanks for info. I really just want a good pet and eggers. I am not looking for meat birds. I am going to have a run and a coop for them. I want to let them free range in the eveningss when i am out doing some yard work or that so i can keep an eye on them. we live in the middle of woods farms and orchards little of a mix all the way around us.  we have people on both sides of us and we dont have a fence execpt around our pool. so 100% free range all the time i dont think would be a good idea. I like the silkies and polishes for their looks. but i am open to really any breed.

Ok, so what is it about the silkies and polish you like? The poof? The flashiness? The temperament? That might help you narrow it down? My silkies are pretty good layers, as long as I can keep them from being broody.... I get about an egg a day per bird and their eggs are a little larger than a typical bantam egg.

Central PA folks - if anyone is interested in 2 mallard ducks (1 month old - I think 1 male and 1 female, based on voice sexing), please let me know. I posted a thread on "animals in need of free re-homing".  I currently have 4 and am willing to keep all, but would prefer just 2.  Thank you!

Where are you at? G doesn't like ducks pooping everywhere, but there's something about them that I like, lol.

Don't tempt me!

I'm located just west of the state college area. I agree- very messy, but so personable! We have them in large cage layered with plastic, so it makes it really easy to clean every day.

Well then! April has a rabbit cage, so I could use that for quarantine for now. When would work for pick up? I'm tickled to death that you're so close and have ducks, LOL!

I got them at the West York Agway. They order from Mt. Healthy. I waited for the mailman to deliver them today and got first pick. They got 200 chicks this morning and all arrived alive and looking good. I have a list of what chicks they are getting in through the end of April if you are interested. I told them I was interested in GLW and Speckled Sussex which were not on their list and they called and ordered some for April 25th while I was there! They also reserved some of them for me.

Can u share the list please? I have some polish and light brahmas on reserve with them. Didn't get a list though. Thanks!!! That's where most of mine came from. I am happy with mine. :)

If anyone wants some half gallon plastic milk jugs, let me know. We go through about six of them per week, and while I'm using the sin out of them now, I'll soon have way more than necessary. I like them for waterers (using nipples) and carrying water, but I'm sure there are a lot more uses for them.

Just discovered my fellow PA'ers.

My backyard flock consists of 4 buff brahma's and 3 blue splash marans (all hens which just turned 1 yr old). However, I hope to be increasing the flockette with my very first incubated brood. 14 mail ordered blue splash marans eggs...6 piped this morning and as I sit here I hear their first little peeps. How egg-citing!!!
