Peppers struggling?

Anyone else seeing a seemingly off year for peppers? I tried growing from seed and they all died or struggled to get past the seedling stage let alone look healthy. I bought a 6 pack of both jalapeño and green bell peppers from a couple local nurseries and they too were on the small side. They're still only a foot tall(maybe) and they've been in well fertilized ground for a month and a half now. My Roma tomato plants are huge and fruiting. But my jalapeño are JUST starting to flower. In my past experience, they generally follow the same pace as each other but there's a huge difference this year. My neighbor said the same her tomatoes are doing well but her peppers have struggled thus far. Many local greenhouses are hearing the same thing as well.

Anyone having troubles with pepper plants this year? Or is it just my region? Other than. A slightly lower precipitation than normal, everything has been par for the course and I've done everything as I should.

It has. Early season here is all over the place as far as temps go. But this year was a year of extremes. One day we were at 70° then the next we were at 15°. Obviously I didn't have them outside yet. But that was prolonged even longer than normal.

The pepper plants I put into the garden weeks ago aren't doing much; but the local feed store was selling all leftover veggies for 10 cents a plant last week, so I bought three jalapenos (which already have tiny peppers) and two other hot peppers. I potted them instead of trying to grow them in the garden. We'll see.

Weather here has been so odd -- long-term drought, record heat, days of heavy rain. I'm happy ANYTHING is growing at all. The ultimate insult: my garden squash plants are struggling, but one growing in the goats' infirmary pen is HUGE and healthy. Guess I should just let the goats poop out seeds in my garden next year.

My peppers have been prolific this year! Try changing spots in the garden. I moved bell peppers from a spot in my garden that struggled the last two years and now I cant harvest them off soon enough! Good luck!
This is basically virgin ground though. I grew pumpkins only last year and I fertilized the ground before I planted.

@Driley62 No problems on the other side of the USA, but our weather has been pretty ordinary.
I had a huge problem with my jalapeños this year. I bought “jalapeño plants” from the feed store and when they started producing, they produced bell peppers. It’s kinda funny but it really frustrated me. We love fresh jalapeños
Yup I would be frustrated too. I ran out of pickled jalapenos a couple months ago and couldn't wait for the season to start!

Our weather has been odd. More so than typical. Weather warmed then called both above and below seasonal average for about 2 months it seemed. I know local greenhouses said they struggled to get pepper seeds to take

Peppers (and eggplant) don't do well in my climate, I don't know why I bother trying. I always struggle to get plants going (I seed indoors in February, but we just don't get enough hotter days for optimal growth once the plants go out) but now that summer is in full swing the plants are finally starting to grow. And by grow I mean they're like 8" tall.
